Make that walk away more permanent. Be clear that their action (or inaction) is actively hurting you and you won't put yourself in that position any longer.

I've been there, and this sucks. I hope you find some kind of solution.

Personally, I've waited until their in a good place, and spoke to them, explaining the frustration and hurt their behaviour is causing, and setting boundaries for the future. If they can't handle the conversation / don't respect your concerns / boundaries, then walk away.

Just had my anonymous leaver's survey at work. Didn't hold back.

Now my line manager is openly using ChatGPT to find incorrect fixes to problems caused by AI.

So glad I made the choice I made.

Exactly. I won't be working in December unless the perfect job comes up (there's an idea in place for that) and we get to go away for Christmas - then reset in new year with an open mind.

Absolutely. 15 years there, and the negative impact on my mental health has only been outweighed this year by one project (that ends in March anyway).

Time to step back, take the payout, and work out what I WANT from life (rather than jumping into the next job because I HAVE to)
