Ok I’m going back in

This will be a great puzzle game

Great memories of high school though

Back when having an operating system that was a hobby unto itself was fun

After playing with two different Linux distros today I now know why apple can charge so much

OK so my review of Qubes:

-- It is super fucking cool
-- I don't smoke enough crack to run this

Been banging my head against getting the internet to work on it and took a step back like man, if this is THIS difficult then I don't even know if I want to go down this path

I really thought I hard bricked this bad boy but I think it was just recovering from the absolutely brutal show of force I just used to shatter its rancid display of hubris

update: I hard bricked it

well they did say there as a 15 day return window in any condition I guess

I don't want to connect my Windows account! I want to get the actual big boy BIOS settings so I can eradicate your awful pestilence off of this machine!
roden.bsky.social
In order to install Qubes you need to enable virtualization in the Bios

But they hide that option from you so you have to jump through hoops just to (maybe) see it

Anyways the hoop I'm jumping through now is it not recognizing that I, the administrator, am administrator

Got a cheap Windows machine to install Qubes on

Holy shit how does anyone use this cancer

I'd like to believe he's been working on a final doorstop we have yet to see and Inherent Vice / Bleeding Edge/ Shadow Ticket are more fun to him

And maybe that's just it - maybe he's just having fun while winding down his days

But that fourth of the Big Four he set out to write - hmmm
roden.bsky.social
Pynchon's Big 4 - have they been published? He's said he has "four big books" he wanted to do

I always ask myself what they are - obviously there's Gravity's Rainbow, Mason & Dixon, and Against the Day

What's the fourth? V? Not convinced. Almost certainly not Vineland. Not IV, BE, or ST.

I didn’t see it in vista vision, is it really that hot?

Not really a nerd about image quality but folks made it seem like it was the only way to watch it

MFA writing: the JK Rowling of literature

With Krasznahorkai winning the Nobel we have to consider one searing question: what if so-called “brodernist” fiction is, in fact, good, and MFA slop is bad no matter how well marketing schools disguised as writing clinics push it
roden.bsky.social
Incredibly pleased to see Krasznahorkai win the Nobel but a very off-brand pick for the committee as after Bob Dylan I would have assumed Taylor Swift was a shoo-in

Man I love Fosse. Sounds like this is the first of three so more on the way?

I need to finish reading his plays

Saw One Battle After Another 10/10 no notes

One thing that I thought was great in particular was how they sent in “Van Halen” to throw a Molotov as excuse to violently break up a peaceful protest

Seems timely

Can’t believe he made this BEFORE this year… what insane timing for the messages

Happy Pynchon and black garlic ramen day to those who celebrate

Swans tonight was hands down no contest not even close the best I’ve ever seen them live

If you’re in NYC and are able to, go see them tomorrow

What a way to end their run with a bang
