I've written a manifesto showing that restricting access and payments of adult content is not the right solution, and that I propose a series of demands for another way of treating this issue that is fairer and better for everyone, children and adults alike.

Honorable intentions, I'll say!
I wish everyone could use their critical thinking more and judge things for what they actually are before sharing shit, though.

I stand corrected about the latest HTML tags though. Although some of them do rely quite a bit on JS to unlock their full potential usually they have native behaviors built in. Way better and streamlined than spinning up something with your own scripts.

Yeah the flies are a pretty dumb example but it extends to things that are as invasive.

You COULD do that, but it will be a liability to you and probably the platform.
So why let them do that?

Sure browsers are less permissive with what scripts you write with their APIs but you can still do pretty nasty things like adding flies to your homepage in WP.

I mean no offense to those who are Dadaist enough to do that but we still have too many popups and people won't like it.

As community snippets that do their job as intended and consistently, while still remaining GDPR compliant, that'd be great.

Being able to spin up your own version that could not work as well, be less performant and might be more invasive to the end user, not so much.

Yup. That's why they need to be constantly checked for potential security risks and whether they have malicious code running.
Plus it never stops you from writing your own plugin to inject whatever JavaScript you want.

At the bare minimum, no raw script tags. Since you have partials you could have approved script snippets but don't let them write their *own* JS.
That's tantamount to relinquishing security completely.

I'm assuming you're limiting most tags cause browsers nowadays have way more native capabilities with just putting some video and dialog tags.
