my experience was that everyone gradually stopped hosting personal websites and started just posting to social media, so trying to actually keep up with any ongoing projects via rss became unworkable. tumblr rss kinda worked but was error prone. twitter was a nightmare.
basically just don't make a roguelike that strings me along with rng and meta progression (or anything adjacent to that) and I'll be good to go, lol. I trust your instincts and tastes to consistently lead to games I'll be happy to play.
I love your games bc they feel compact, carefully constructed, and confident. I don't feel any extrinsic motivators trying to lure me into playing more. I just feel the intrinsic joy of play. imo it takes confidence to let your gameplay ride purely on the joy of play, and it's sadly uncommon.
I played this for the first time yesterday and experienced the same thing, lol. she has a proper instant jab and her throw is straight horizontal across the whole screen, so it actually hits stuff. why on earth would you play anyone else?
score and time for my first completed run. had a good lil fanboy squeal unlocking dolores mode btw. assuming I'm gonna have to unlock the other extras mode option by clearing the difficulty prior to arcade mode, lol.
I've been telling anyone who will listen how excited I was for disaster arms all year. it did not disappoint. all I want in life is straightforward action platformers with sub hour runtimes. this is that, with wonderful art and music, and a satisfying emotional core at the center. goty.

undercover cops is a pretty fun beat em up. that akio oyabu (metal slug) art goes hard. rosa definitely seems like the right character to play, with her instant jab and throws that cover the entire screen. good times.
the senran kagura folks made a halfway appealing cast of characters for once but could not help themselves and made the selling point panty flashes of extremely generic anime girls. insane fumble. look at my beautiful boys. please make uppers 2 for the fujoshis.
uppers is a letdown. I started it like, well, the bones seem solid, but the enemies don't do anything. when the enemies get around to being threatening then this could be solid. but they never did that. sleepwalked through it on hard expecting to unlock a higher difficulty. nope.
he showed up saying some shit in my media thread and what he was expressing wasn't even wrong, but he kept saying "memoslop" "stgslop" "consentroidvania" like, why would you talk like this? how did you find my media thread? are you lost?
👀 may I ask where this is? always exciting to hear about a new arcade!

sure, yeah. and the combo system discourages waiting. really the game wants you to play it lightning fast, and any time you slow the pace you get punished by having to play it super slow. I get what you mean now though.
can you elaborate on what you mean by "plays like dark souls"
this frustrates me about pokemon hacks. exploring the nuances of each gen is fun. like, if I'm playing gen 1, it's to mess with goofy counter shenanigans and stuff. I wish romhacks would work to facilitate that kind of play instead of just backporting as many later gen mechanics as possible.
oh yo, I saw these folks at a convention recently. really loved their setup. looking forward to the game!
nekketsu oyako itself is pretty good. most of the joy of it is playing the saturn version and finding goofy stuff it will let you get away with that other games wouldn't. it's genuinely very fun. but it's soooo slow. it needs a turbo mode. I'm gonna try emulating it with like a 50% speed bump later.
but no one really followed up on it. there are few similar console exclusive games that generation. by the time we got the hardware to accomplish this at home, there was no appetite for it, so those games didn't get made. tons of mediocre snes bmups almost nothing on saturn. it's kind of a bummer!
nekketsu oyako kills me. after a generation of consoles not being able to keep up with the action of arcade bmups, the ps1 got to launch with a rough lil game that could really churn out an absurd number of enemies. a little slow maybe, but extremely promising. even better ported to saturn.
and I stumbled into a korean review of the game. delightful. I'm gonna have to see what other korean retro games have been talked about on the channel. there so many games in this world.
