Best part of this, by the great @dankaufman70.bsky.social, transcends its specific, and also crucial, subject matter: how timorous institutionalist in the anti-Trump coalition get challenged by young people (here, a caucus called "FUN"!) itching for a fight.

what a stat
CBP—the nation’s largest law enforcement agency—has been plagued for two decades by a tidal wave of crime, corruption, and misconduct.

Criminality is so rampant inside CBP that it has seen one of its own agents or officers arrested every 24 to 36 hours since 2005.
What Democrats need to know to truly reform ICE
I'm an expert, and the misconduct and corruption runs far deeper than even the deadly surges have shown.

"Defund the police" was actually a great position and now Democrats are finding their only way to combat ICE is to defund them in Congress.

From reporting on ICE, I found too much attention is being paid to the bonus' that agent receive for signing up and agents incompetence. The problems with ICE is the problem with policing in general: arrest first, question later; racial targeting; horrible incentives; violence; impunity.

You're not even attempting a society of equals when there are people running around with guns and bulletproof vests.

The presence of federal police in Minnesota should make it clear to everyone that policing, especially as practiced in America, has no place in a democratic society. No one should ever be able to act with impunity and behind a veil of secrecy.

After Trump elevated a video with unfounded claims of fraud in Somali-American run childcares and used it as context for the ICE occupation of Minnesota, childcare providers around the country have been subject to vigilante harassment and surveillance www.thenation.com/article/soci...
Childcare Providers Around the Country Are Being Targeted by Vigilante Surveillance
In response to bogus allegations of fraud in Minnesota, strangers are filming them, knocking on their doors, demanding to be let in. It’s scaring parents and costing providers.

I went back home to Minneapolis and St. Paul and reported on the quickly expanding devastation of Operation Metro Surge. I hope you'll give it a read.
“The size of Operation Metro Surge is delirious, outlandish,” writes @robinks.com. “Neighbors juggling jobs, kids, and their own fears are up against three thousand federal agents.”

I traveled home to Minnesota to report on the rolling fallout of Operation Metro Surge. Both the occupation and neighborhood responses was breathtaking in scale. History in the making.
