Forget about banning under 16s from social media. It’s time to ban Boomers from social media. For under 16s it’s an individual crisis. For boomers, it turns into government policy affecting millions.

In my regular series of “if only people could see the invisible stuff” - a single occupancy hotel room with the AC ‘ventilation’, on. No wonder I have a headache!

When are we going to fight back from this stuff, as a society? I’m a technologist, but I’m quickly coming round to the Luddites world view. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/d...

It is entirely on theme for this government that the new livery for Great British Railways was just a Hornby model placed in the middle of London Bridge station. No fanfare, no real train. A Hornby model. Also the new livery looks abysmal - if I were Lumo I would be livid. It’s not even Mallard blue

London. A man is deadpan singing along, at volume, to Natalie Imbruglia’s ‘Torn’.

Thank you all, the update than we can barely believe we get to make.

To everyone who supported us through this last month, we couldn’t have even come close to this outcome without you all.

Have a peaceful festive period, we’ll see you in the bookshop soon 🧡

Very sad to hear about Martin Parr. He took the photographs that I was always too chicken to take. Which made viewing his pictures always a wonder. RIP Martin.

The Midlothian Ski centre reception number holding music is the theme from Ski Sunday. I bet someone was incredibly proud when they set that up (as they should be)

Just been to see The Running Man at the cinema. It’s about a dystopic society where average folk can’t afford healthcare, billionaires aren’t paying their way, and reality TV is the government… anyway, the film is good. This generations’ Idiocracy I feel.

My favourite grasshopper fact: Grasshoppers first appeared on the planet 250 million years ago.

Grass did not appear on the planet until 40 million years ago

Imagine it: 210 million years, hopping around on any random surface you can find, waiting for the grass that will make you truly yourself.

Just watching 'The Roses' I spotted "Casting by Nina Gold" at the front and knew I was in for a casting treat. How is she so incredibly good at this.

Whenever I think society has hit a new low, something comes along to scrape it even lower. People are scalping Frey Bentos pies on eBay.

I fly a lot. But, I don't run a car - I use public transport and track my flight CO2/NOx - it's a heck of a lot less than driving a car for my commute.
I eat meat, but I've cut down *a lot* & now eat a mostly plant based diet.
I always thought the Green Party wasn't for me - until Zack.

Unpopular Whisky Opinion: Bottling at 12Y is probably the best expression. Bottling earlier doesn't reveal the full flavours of the cask, and older than that does very little more to the taste vs the wait.
