What a lovely way to have your initial ID corrected. Turns out I found the first Saker to be photographed in Portugal. It was the second (or possibly third) record for Portugal following an unseen satellite tagged bird that was tracked electronically www.facebook.com/groups/25587...

Unbelievable luck to find this pale morph Booted Eagle that initially flew north-east over SWT Carlton Marshes at 14.30 on 7th May 2025. It then headed north-west over Peto’s Marsh and dropped out of view at Burgh St Peter at 14.45

When I phoned the news out from the only (?) public phone box the response was 'how am I going to get there?'. The airport was closed on Sundays. Despite that some did manage to get there on the Sunday but unfortunately the Parula had gone.
Yes to Cliff Swallow. I didn't get any photos of the Parula but have poor transparency of some of the crowd. After finding it I ran around Tresco letting everyone know. The pub was instantly evacuated by all the birders in the rush to get out.
Thanks Mark. You've returned the favour many times, especially in Norfolk, since then.
