Good man! A bit of a ’lost’ album, that one.
He knew the risks when he took the job.
Held By Trees channeling the creative legacy of the late, great Mark Hollis in Manchester last night.

Highland cattle in Heaton Park, enjoying the break between Oasis concerts two fields down.
I think I’d call it a mixed blessing!
We never put any food out or approach them (there have been two different ones). They seem to come over in a spirit of genuine curiosity, as far as we can tell.

A rare, if not unique, instance of Wodehouse being improved.
What a dream / nightmare team that was.
Rochdale’s recently reopened Town Hall. Originally completed in 1871 at four times its original estimate, the mayor explained “We cannot have beauty without paying for it.”
I recently read Boneland, the decades later conclusion to his Weirdstone trilogy, very different style, almost like a dream state. He’s a fascinating writer.
This week’s book buys.
My 2025 plan to rein in the rate of book purchasing and bring it in line with the rate of books read is getting off to a shaky start.
I saw the original lineup at the Milton Keynes Bowl Ozzfest in 2001, back when a rock all-dayer held no fears.
I’d have to battle them for their oxygen tents if I went now
(I’m not going)
