Like 'monks' in the Middle Ages, volunteers are working to preserve cultural treasures they fear are under threat from President Trump’s war against 'woke.'

If someone claiming to be ICE approaches & won't show ID when asked, am I legally obliged by to cooperate with ANYTHING they do? If I don't obey their orderrs, is that actually a crime?

Not asking about the extra-legal BS they're getting away with. Asking about federal law and what it states.

If the last 190 days were a written satire, it would be dismissed as over the top.

You can be a Christian or a Trump fan, but not both. If you think otherwise, explain it to me. Just be sure you've explained it to Jesus first.

Sincerely, a secular fan of transcendent love.

Hullo World! I'm reading from SIEGE in support of the Pixel Project to End Violence Against Women--this Saturday at 8:30 Eastern Time. LIVE - ON - YE - OLDE - YOU - TUBE.

Nine full minutes long. But these are Talupéké minutes, and she packs a punch. Q& A afterwards!

Want to ask me where Book III is? Whether Pazel and Thasha will ever make out again? Why a certain character died (or didn't)? THIS IS YOUR CHANCE. Stop by my Reddit Fantasy AMA on Tuesday (8/19) and let fly.

Doing a r/fantasy AMA in support of The Pixel Project to End Violence Against Women, Tuesday (Aug 19) from 10:00 AM EST.

Come & heckle! Fielding questions about SIEGE, The Fire Sacraments, The Chathrand Voyage, what feminism means to me, love during wartime, etc. infinito.

And please share.

Something to be happy about: a 3500+ year-old dolphin fresco from the Minoan Palace of Knossos, Crete, complete with stylized sea urchins and some very worried looking fish.

The confirmation of Emil Bove to the 3rd Circuit is a direct assault on the integrity of our justice system.

A former Trump lawyer, Bove ordered a 15-year DOJ veteran to lie to a federal judge — then helped fire him for refusing.

Now he’s a judge. Corruption in action.

Just stumbled over these lines from SIEGE, written early last year. To think I worried once that readers wouldn't be able to relate to such passages.

The Trump cult has unleashed a racial profiling attack & kidnapping force. Watch the video, and recall that what gets filmed is only the tiniest fraction of the abuse going on. This is racist insanity run amok. Trump voters, this is on you.

Just watched Episode 1 of The Prisoner (1967), and I'm 100% sure it was made by a time-traveling David Lynch.

At Readercon, I'll be reading from (what else?) Siege, the last book in The Fire Sacraments trilogy. Which I'm STILL WRITING AND IT'S KILLING ME.

But the chapter's a fun one, an oasis of peace in the middle of a book about war.

Such a marvelous book. I hope its fame continues to grow.
Bookshop.org (still blocked where I am for some reason) is having an anti-amazon-prime sale, & you can my books there, including THE DEVOURERS, my queer dark fantasy/mythic realist debut about shapeshifters in the 17th c Mughal Empire & modern India, slightly discounted. It won a Lambda Award.

A very sensible thread about the Asimov AI cover fiasco, and Interzone's problematic response.
Thread about AI art in SF/F magazines and the assumption that authors have a ton of power to stop this.

Many people in the genre saw this post from the editor of Interzone rightly taking Asimov's to task for using what appears to be a cover with AI art. 1/

If you love this country, try to make it smarter and kinder. That’s all that can save it. Stupidity will see it blunder from disaster to final disaster. Cruelty will strand it snarling alone. Make it smarter and kinder, and then be proud of your love.
