A quick note on insulin: insulin's job is to take whatever you're not burning and put it into fat for storage.

Insulin is not the diabetes hormone, insulin is the energy storage hormone.

A calorie burned is a calorie burned. I don't argue that. That's true. That's the first law of thermodynamics.

But that doesn't mean a calorie eaten is a calorie eaten. That's not the same.

You may be surprised to learn that smoothies aren't as nutritious as they sound. By turning the fruit into a paste, you're losing out on the insoluble fiber and its benefits.

There is no fat accumulation without insulin. Insulin shunts sugar to fat. It makes your fat cells grow.

The more insulin, the more fat, period.

There can be a certain brutality to the sugar production process, including in the state of Maharashtra, India. Some large companies, including Coca-Cola, source sugar from the area.

Colon cancer rates have been increasing in prevalence and severity and have been occurring in younger age groups.

This study, linked below, argues (but does not prove) that the increase in ultraprocessed food has something to do with it.

Do we need to eat what our ancestors did or eschew all carbs?

I would propose that all we need to do is eat ‘safe carbs.’

That means low sugar to prevent insulin resistance, and high fiber to reduce flux to the liver and prevent insulin hypersecretion.
