Yet another major internet outage caused by… a boo-boo. Cloudflare pushed a bad change, a file ballooned, and the web face-planted. We’ve let a few companies become global chokepoints. If accidents can take down the internet, imagine what a deliberate hit would do. New piece is up.

How a free press works is simple: Reporters don’t work for the president. They don’t work for any politician. Their job is to ask questions — especially the ones the powerful don’t want asked. A free press holds leaders to account because leaders answer to the people, not the other way around.
