Pleased to say my novel made the long list for @bridportprize.bsky.social this year, and an excerpt features in the anthology. I'm querying agents at the moment and also was one of the winners of @irishwriterscentre.bsky.social Novel Fair 2025, so get in touch if you know any agents looking.

Was trying to be involved in residents group and they kept doing the monthly meetings at 10am on Sundays. It took being out tonight to reply and say I'll help with anything digital but I'll never ever, ever come to a meeting on a Sunday, ever, ever, never 😀

Was a bit early for something and had a quick pint nearby which led to a man striking up a conversation with me, who was one of the most repugnant people I've ever met. Grinning, sexist, racist, Tory. He'll definitely end up in some fiction anyway tho too grim to be a significant character.

There's something amusing to me about the desperation to ask absolutely vital and grave questions in this piece, perhaps just a quirk of the format.

I know this is a widespread thing but Stranger Things must be the most aimed at adults kids show of all time.

This is a wonderful mix which includes several tracks by Ronald Burrell to mark his sad passing. RIP.

There really is no band with as many absolute stone cold bangers as the Pet Shop Boys.

In the last few days I've been on a journey from "why don't I ever wear this aftershave" to, same day, "it's a bit strong actually, that's why" to, today, doing laundry "what's that smell, has someone invaded my home?"

Was at the hospital just now and the doctor said "you know the best thing to come out of Ireland?"

A lot of thoughts but couldn't decide.

"Riverdance!"

You just died. The 6th picture in your phone gallery is what killed you.

(Makes sense)

I swear there's more discourse about Christmas sandwiches than anything else to do with the season, and I don't mean the birth of Our Lord Jesus Christ, just whatever other ephemeral festive things are drowned out by shops cramming a roast into some bread.

Every time I see a mention of the "Patriotic Millionaires" group I find it hard to take seriously. Feels like an organisation someone would make up if writing a satire of the UK.

Would anyone complain, besides politicians or the press, if the budget was just published as a document at 9am and that was that, besides whatever reports came from what's in it? I doubt it.

I don't comprehend this trend for Xmas baubles that are like a replica of a tin of anchovies or a pack of Tayto crisps or something. I didn't even seek to know about it.

A thing that I find more difficult every year is people you haven't seen in some time trying to organise social events in WhatsApp, where you can't even decide a date in one group let alone reconcile all of the possible dates with each other.

Needed a chonky honker keyring to avoid ever losing my keys again after last week's debacle, and I managed to find one with the Kewpie mayo baby. Possibly nerdiest item I own.
