I've begun the 2nd book in my stupid little series, because I was stuck on the first one. Some chapter titles:

The High Priests

The Time of Monsters

The Paper Daughters

At the Crossroads

The Box in the Mountains

They Who Dream Alone

A Savage Place

The Struggle of Nations

The Dust of Empire
Can’t believe I have to wait another week or two to see @realgdt.bsky.social’s Frankenstein. But I was just gifted the Criterion edition of his masterful The Shape of Water, so that is some consolation.
May a freak comet hit the Dodgers dugout. Amen.
I know old Hollywood was cutthroat. I know there have been mergers before this. It’s still tragic for movie lovers to see classic studios gobbled up by amoral sociopaths who couldn’t care less about legacies.

As Warner Bros Goes Up for Sale, Where Would Hollywood Be Without the Iconic Studio?
With Warner Bros. for sale, what will become of the iconic studio that champions auteurs like Ryan Coogler, Paul Thomas Anderson and Clint Eastwood?

Did they really do that? I mean, I guess I can see the need to upgrade, new console and all that, but if they release another on PS5, yeah, it would be excessive.
I’d be fine if fewer games were open world. I can’t tell you how many good games have scared me off by “promising” 100 hours of play time. The only open worlds I want to see are the cream of the crop—Zelda, TES, Fallout, etc.
A black cat ran through my yard. I thought about following it to see if I could find its witch and maybe get her number, but it was way too fast. Godspeed, black cat. Go curse a Republican for me.
I don’t like football, and I don’t listen to Bad Bunny, but it’s gonna be great seeing all the MAGAs cry into their Cheerios when half the world tunes in for his Super Bowl halftime show. At this point I just auto-assume that anything that upsets MAGA is good for the culture and the country.
My film hot take of the day is that Adam Sandler should have been nominated, and quite possibly should have won, the Best Actor Oscar for Uncut Gems. I liked Joker, a lot, actually, but that’s not the role Joaquin Phoenix should have won for.

Not that I would recommend it, but have you guys been over on Twitter lately? Because they think it’s absolutely hilarious.
If one undocumented migrant got thrown off SNAP and 1 million citizens did, MAGA would declare that good.

If one undocumented migrant got beaten or killed by ICE and 1 million citizens did, MAGA would declare that good.

Their hatred of The Other has warped their brains.
They live every day in a world designed explicitly to be hostile to anyone who doesn’t 100% fit in to some vague, ever-shifting social paradigm. They have to account for every possibility. Their safety may depend on calling the right shots several steps before they happen. You want that person.
There’s this pervasive idea that only neurotypicals can handle high stress or high importance situations, but if you’re about to be faced with a choice that has serious consequences, you want a neurospicy person on your side. They will extrapolate every possible outcome into a mental flow chart.
How has no one made a streaming show out of that series? If I was in charge of greenlighting at Netflix, I’d stop producing awful movies for a second and pursue those books. I’m already head-casting the main character.
I didn’t know Fahrenheit 451 had been among the books that were banned. Ray Bradbury never wrote a sexual thing in his life. The novel is about authoritarians burning books. Gee, I wonder what their problem with it was.

Basically, I need to be kept safely away from anything using the words “deckbuilder” and “roguelike”. These things are bad for my health.
Kotaku did an article on a current Switch games sale, and the header had a mere partial image of Slay the Spire in it, and I swear I started to shake and shiver. I had to call my fucking sponsor and gaze for a while at my 1-year chip. That game is the reason I haven’t played Balatro yet.
