Nav Canada quasi-retiree. Jets/Bombers/Indie rock.
2 of Minnesota's top 3 Cs are out. Jaccob Slavin didn't play Friday, and he's only played twice this year. Your roster's lack of talent is going to get exposed without Helle, so maybe ask your GM what he's been up to lately.
#NHLJets Scott Arniel on his inconsistent club through 21 games:

“Let’s start with injuries, alright? Let’s start with injuries. Let’s not sugar coat it. Like everybody else, there’s a lot of injuries happening. We’ve been getting hammered here and we got hammered again tonight."

Not that I expect unvarnished truth from Sawyer, but slow teams usually look like they're skating in cobwebs.

Nino's had a shit afternoon on the boards.

The emphasis on the lack of offence will end up being a broken record by the end of the year, I fear, but I thought the Jets had the least offensive talent of any Presidents' Trophy team I could ever remember, and they lost one of their best 5v5 scorers. I'm not sure how this gets better.
November 23, 2025 at 11:21 PM
Shooters vs. non-shooters is a tough contest.
November 23, 2025 at 11:14 PM
Just sayin'.
The last three President's Trophy winners the following season:

Florida - 30 points fewer
Boston - 26 points fewer
New York - 29 points fewer

I could live with a poorer season if they realized they maxed out last year and tried to re-tool, but they doubled down on old and slow, and here we are.

Not sure the Jets have 1 goal in them. 2 seems very unlikely.
November 23, 2025 at 10:43 PM
The Jets have underestimated Carolina's ability to close players down. They're making plays like they have time, and they don't.
November 22, 2025 at 2:20 AM
Agreed. I think the Bombers thought they'd benefit from all the extra dates, but the stadium's about 6 times too big. I've been to Bison football games there, and it's nice to have your pick of seats, but there's no juice when at least 30,000 of them are empty.
November 21, 2025 at 10:12 PM
4-5K seats and real grass, preferably. Not sure who'd build a stand-alone facility, though.
November 21, 2025 at 9:59 PM
He's always been a starfucker at heart, and no one is more of a star right now than Zohran.
November 21, 2025 at 9:38 PM
I was there and spent the entire night wondering how long he could keep up that fuckery, because it certainly wasn't a Helle "it's under control, I got this" game. Lots of chaos from him and the team.
November 21, 2025 at 6:12 PM
And that's only the second best game a Jets backup has had against the Canes in Winnipeg over the last two seasons. LB played out of his skin against them in Dec. 23.
Eric Comrie actually posted a shutout vs Carolina last season (Feb 4) stopping 29 shots and a GSAx of 2.93
November 21, 2025 at 5:49 PM
If you ever wondered what kind of team Winnipeg really is, you'll get some insight now. Hellebuyck's basically played at least 75% of the games since 2016-17. Even that year he had 53 starts, which he might not match.

Update: 4 in 23.
I know regulation wins are passé this year, but Edmonton has 4 in 22 games. It's mostly goaltending, but they also aren't out-playing teams at 5v5 like they have in past seasons.

On the plus side, listening to Jack and Louie fish for reasons to be optimistic is mildly amusing.

I didn't like the play that lead to it, but it should also be noted that the Jets created nothing for about 5-6 minutes before that goal.
November 19, 2025 at 1:48 AM
Both of these teams stink and neither deserve a point, let alone two.
November 16, 2025 at 5:49 AM
I think Lily has watched both of our teams as of late.
November 16, 2025 at 2:06 AM
24 games without the team scoring a 5v5 goal with him on the ice. That almost seems impossible until you watch him, and then it's completely credible.
#NHLJets Luke Schenn is on a 17 goals against streak with zero goals scored by the Jets @ 5v5 since start of playoffs.

Will the levy break or does it continue?
November 15, 2025 at 9:22 PM
I see Osh will be back. I'm not sure he can be trusted to let the roster turn over the way it needs to. They really can't defer on this any longer.
November 14, 2025 at 10:33 PM
I keep coming back to this idea, but if Schenn was just some random 26 year old playing like this I'm certain he'd have been on waivers by now. The Jets have always had a bit of "jobs for the boys" about them, though.
November 14, 2025 at 10:01 PM
I'm reminded of this from Humbert Wolfe:

You cannot hope to bribe or twist
(thank God!) the British journalist.
But, seeing what the man will do
unbribed, there's no occasion to.

I'm pretty sure Edmonds can get there on his own.
November 14, 2025 at 8:22 PM
Not sure that would be sufficient. I've never even had beer goggles that bad. My expectations are generally quite low, but damned if Edmonds didn't outdo them.
