Thanks, Erin. Yes, I first made the “ridge” shapes with wax soaked tissue paper and then built accretion on top of that.

"Worn Out & Still Puzzled" is an encaustic painting that speaks in layers: of time, of wear, of lingering questions never quite answered. Freeform bas-relief shapes in orange, white and faded blues tug at the edges of recognition. Echoes of something once vibrant, now scuffed and grimy from exposure
...in structured repetition, only to be interrupted by gestural slashes that cut through the ceramic-smooth background with raw urgency. The piece evokes a sense of movement caught between order and disruption, like the clash of memory and new revelation. 2/2 #art #encaustic #abstractart
“Reverse Culture” is a striking encaustic painting that plays in the tension between rhythm and chaos. Warm grullo gray, pale yellow, and deep blue combine to form a layered dialogue—serene yet unpredictable. Organic, textural lines reminiscent of rolling waves pulse across the surface... 1/2
"Are We Still Connected?" Encaustic and mixed media on wood panel.
Being of Swedish descent, I found this interesting:
The first 3 letters of 'Sweden' and 'Denmark' combined spell out 'Sweden.' The remaining letters spell out 'Denmark.'
LOVE Twombly’s work!❤️
Hey there! I’m new on bSky too and I’m finding that I only look at the feed that shows the people I’m following. If I look at the feed tab labeled “Discover” it’s mostly political noise and other junk that I personally have no interest in seeing. I’m here for the art.
The two panels contrast yet complement each other, each representing the fleeting, chaotic nature of moments slipping away over the grounded, yet weathered, reflection on the remnants of the past. Together, they create a contemplative experience of being adrift in the currents of time.
Each 24 x 48 inch panel features layers of textured wax, pigments, and organic materials evoking a sense of fluidity and movement, as if the viewer is witnessing time itself in flux.
🔴SOLD “Lost in the Currents of Time” is a large encaustic diptych that explores themes of memory, transience, and the passage of time.

Together, they explore the granular quality of time and existence, encouraging the viewer to meditate on the question: how much of life is lived in fragments, four seconds at a time?

At the heart of the piece, four rows of four repeating red shapes, symbolizing life or heartbeats, seemingly regimented yet imperfect.
Bold black slashes cut through the composition like sudden, decisive moments, their raw energy both disruptive and deliberate. Bold black slashes cut through the composition like sudden, decisive moments, their raw energy both disruptive and deliberate.
🔴SOLD - “Four Seconds At A Time” Encaustic and mixed media on cradled birch panel, framed in black.
“Four Seconds At A Time” presents a haunting tableau of texture and repetition. Its cracked and weathered surface evokes a timelessness.
