The bosses were having gigglefits the entire weekend.

So, yeah.. today "MacGuyver" does fundraisers for the 93rd Brigade Alcatraz on the side. 😁

And we need more reach, too. Been pretty stuck.

Good morning my friends,

Let's shake off some of this gloomy. Please share your fundraisers and fun stories. I haven't seen any although I think my visibility is low here. Remember to donate, share, like, etc.

Tell me, what are we doing for Ukraine today?
Grief is a b*tch. My friends are in pain from loss and I am too. The problem is that the only thing that helps grief is time. Otherwise we live with being numb and feeling the sharp pain of loss all at the same time unable to really comfort each other.
"Why did you decide to go to Ukraine?"

I get this question a lot. The simple answer is that I wanted to help Ukraine fight for its freedom and do the right thing.

The right thing looks different for everyone, this is how I chose to do the right thing my way.
Practically skipped to the post office knowing this DONATED pneumothorax trainer was on its way.

I am SO grateful for the connections that brings these things to me so I can train my students with the best materials possible. Those of you who helped make this happen, THANK YOU!!!

We teach the approved curriculum and then adapt it to Ukraine. Its a lot of adapt and overcome.

What are we doing for Ukraine, my friends?
One of the big challenges we face as TCCC instructors is adapting current curriculum to how things are in Ukraine.

For example gaining "fire superiority" over FPVs vs close quarter combat or how we don't have a golden hour or air support or enough medical supplies the same way NATO militaries do.
Today has been absolutely awful. Hug your loved ones and help people where you can.
We get him stabilized for transport to the hospital and make some coffee or tea.

Nights at the stabilization point.
Flatline.

Start CPR.

After what felt like hours but really was just a few minutes: sinus rhythm.

The silence while we do this is similar to being under water. Time feels like it moves in slow motion. But the minute we get him back, all sound rushes back and we get back to work.
TBI moderate/severe, battle signs, massive hemorrhage, blast wave trauma and tension pneumothorax. Interventions are begun. Dual chest tubes, blood, intubation, eFAST. So much air, we can't see nearly anything on the ultrasound.
The longest minutes

It's after midnight when two red casualties are brought in. The doctors get the warning that we having incoming. The rest of us are woken up and we get up and go.

One team takes one red and we take the other.

For the longest period of my life I was a Lithuanian folk dancer. Some of my greatest memories come from this participation. It is part of what makes me who I am.
With russian occupation comes only darkness. The fight for preservation by those who made it out was a hard one.

Participating in our cultural heritage is a form of resistance. We must continue in memory of those who worked so hard to keep it alive and safe when russia tried to take it from us.
Our heritage was carried to other countries by our great grandparents and grandparents so future generations wouldn't forget their music, dances, art, culture, national costumes and identity that russia tried to stomp out of those who remained, as these were forbidden during occupation.
This brought up a lot of rage considering that russia has been doing this to Ukraine and other countries like mine, Lithuania for decades.
I saw a reel recently of a Ukrainian woman showing how russians are trying to once again steal and rebrand the cultural heritage of the Ukrainian Donestk region as their own all the way down to their national costumes.

Primary care is often a large part of our work as medics. We have to fill the gaps when primary care isn't readily available.

It helps provide soldiers with security knowing they will get the help they need even for the little stuff.
