I've said it before I'll say it again: Make Jayce so bad Viktor doesn't HAVE time for self pity because Jayce is always close to dying by his own hand!! Either consciously or unconsciously!!! Vik's trauma is waaaaay more existential as opposed to Jayce's which is EXTREMELY psychological & physical!

It's hard, & in some ways harder than stopping the apocalypse, but it's worth it when Jayce stops caring about numbers on a scale & can eat w/o fear of flashbacks. It's worth it when Vik can wrap his hands around Jayce w/o him tensing up & remembering the Coucil room fight. It's worth it. It all is.

There's shouting & tears & silence & itching for fights & unease, but regardless, no matter how frustrating everything gets, they know it's all shit they would've (or should've) addressed eventually. At the end of the day, they both take a deep breath, say "I love you, I choose you, over & over."

Finally, amongst all this, Jayce and Vik talk. Like, actually address shit both have been avoiding. It sucks & while it's hardest on Jayce, it's hard on Vik too cause he's forced to acknowledge that a LOT of Jayce's issues are because Vik shut him out & hid things from him.

Talks about his issues before the apocalypse, everything that happened in between, & then how he is/isn't coping now that's it's all over. Surprisingly, when he's not talking about being almost dying in a hole, he's talking about Vik.

Jayce is BANNED from exercise until he goes to physical therapy. Once he goes, learns how to live & move with his busted leg, his physical therapist gives him all sort info on exercises he can do that WON'T fuck up his body even worse. Calisthenics are where he starts, & from there he expands onward

Liquid, specifically water was a trigger too actually. Metallic & chemically tasting water triggered him BIG time. Tea, sports drinks, coffee, and even just infused water help bypass that & keep Jayce hydrated. They both learn how to properly brew tea & it becomes a shared hobby of theirs :)

Follow up to this impromptu fic: Jayce's restrictive eating was due to food/eating being a trigger for him, so he was eating as little as he could to avoid that. He & Vik start to carefully experiment with textures, temperatures, cooking methods, ect to see what combos do/don't trigger Jayce.

Viktor doesn't catch on for a while until he realizes Jayce NEVER touches ANY of the desserts or carb-heavy foods he used to enjoy. He isn't certain until Jayce nearly has a panic attack when he realizes he "ate too much" (the amount is arbitrary, it's made up in his head) of something Viktor made.

Eating only as needed for muscle gain, over-exerting his body & not letting it recover, drinking little water so he can always see his muscles, all attempts to feel control over his body again #Arcane

I didn't realize YOU were the only one allowed to do that!" & it's like a slap in the face to Vik & all of Jayce's anger dissipates but before he can apologize Vik leaves w/ teary eyes

So they go & in between doctors figuring out how Jayce got to this point & how to fix all the (thankfully temporary) damage he's done, Viktor finally makes Jayce tell him what the hell has been going on. Jayce gets irritated & tries to shut the conversation down multiple times but Vik is insistent

Vik takes him to minor emergency & they run his vitals & despite Jayce looking more chiseled than ever his body chemistry is COMPLETELY out of whack. The staff actually send him to the hospital so a team of professionals can make a plan to get his body back to normal & keep it that way.

He's feverish & his legs hurts so bad it's making him nauseous & his whole body is cramping from dehydration & his ears are ringing & underneath it all he's angry but mostly SO scared because nothing like this was supposed to happen again he was NEVER supposed to feel so weak & helpless ever again

Except eventually, his body does what Vik tried to warn him it would do, & it just...gives out. Jayce wakes up dizzy & stumblEd out of bed, his leg hurting like NEVER before, & he doesn't even make it to the bathroom across the haul before he pukes in the hallway. There was nothing in his stomach.
