What do people in England think about their local area? In this short report I take a look at surveys we conducted with @yougov.co.uk in 2022, 2024 and 2025 to gain some insights...

Some key findings...

Here is the full breakdown of MPs on Bluesky by party 👇

@richholman.com has created an interactive tool based on @politicshome.bsky.social's list, mapping which MPs are on Bluesky and when they last posted

You can use the tool here: mps.dowu.uk#list

Needed to build something quick over the weekend so decided to use webawesome.com for the first time (was already a backer). It's really nice, just enough without being too much. Loads of great components.

So... I've created a starter pack of UK government organisations currently on Bluesky: go.bsky.app/JHsY1Wz

(Currently includes all those listed under ministerial and non-ministerial departments here www.gov.uk/government/o... - let me know any I've missed, or got wrong)

I’ve added quite a few muted words over the last couple of weeks because… well it can be a lot to take in.

Really like that feature in Bluesky. Especially if you just need a 24 hour or 1 week rest from something.

Given we are having a bit of a surge (or are likely to) and starter packs are a great innovation but hard to find...

I've created a new one I'll direct people to. Largely people who are sound, smart ajd active - who enrich my experiance here and make me think (and prove me wrong)

More MPs are coming off X and I assume that means they will be posting more on here

@politicshome.bsky.social has a handy list of all the MPs on Bluesky

Please point out anyone who is missing!

Started off a list earlier this week & struggled to find all the MPs that have actually set up profiles on Bluesky rather than just be on X. So built a little utility via TheyWorkForYou and Bluesky APIs to see if I could make it more comprehensive, so far I think I've found about 353

The other thing that struck me whilst building mps.dowu.uk was I was able to connect to two open systems for free to build something that displays our parliamentary representation on Bluesky relatively easily.

So many of the once open social media systems are closed (on purpose).

Saw one of those viral videos about the Strawberry number of R's LLM issue. And thought nah, can't still be a thing.

Oh wow. I was absolutely incorrect.

Finding MPs on Bluesky was way harder than I expected but does appear like quite a lot of MPs are here, although notable exceptions appear to be senior Labour and Conservative MPs.

Still a little heartening there are so many.

I strongly agree that MPs, along with many others, should be moving away from X. That said, it’s also worth recognising and thanking those who are using this platform.

I’ve started a list - but is this all the MPs currently on Bluesky?

so I built a WordPress / Eleventy hybrid instead.
