There's a lower division soccer league over here where all the games kicked off at 3.03pm one week to make the point that they think the league should have three promotion spots instead of two. Couldn't do that in the US, because *no sporting event ever starts on time anyway*.

Bizarrely little movement on that final set from South Carolina, considering basically your only shot is someone from Texas being dumb enough to allow enough contact for a dead-ball foul. Run around; maybe someone steps in your way.

I still see a lot of Monique Currie in Madison Booker. Which is kind of a good thing - Currie was a solid WNBA starter for a decade - but also probably not where she'd like to see her ceiling. #WNBA

The lack of an outside shot is going to scare some teams off, but you can absolutely see Rori Harmon falling down the 2026 WNBA draft and then halfway through the season people saying things like "how the hell did they get Harmon at #19?" #WNBA

Just to top off the last month of British basketball insanity, the GB men's team was up 87-80 on Lithuania with 10 seconds left tonight. Lost 89-88. The video of Sargiunas scoring all 9 of Lithuania's points in that sequence is worth looking up, as long as you're not British.

Who on earth thought it was okay for the Chiefs to play in 'all white' while the Cowboys play in 'mostly white'?

To make clear, as today's ESPN update mentioned, if we pass Sunday's deadline without new CBA or extension, it doesn't mean immediate calamity. I asked before this extension what happens in real terms without one, and source said without an active strike/lockout move it's "business as usual". #WNBA

So when was the last time one of the players on the team you support was sent off for giving his own teammate a slap?

Always various reasons for who's at or not at USA training camps, but as always you wonder why certain people *aren't* there. No Collier, Stewart, AThomas, AGray, KMitchell, Ionescu, Ogunbowale in December group. Also no Sarah Strong despite a couple of college invites.

Mildly relevant when debating those top pick options: Awa Fam would turn 23 during the final season of a four-year rookie-scale contract. Azzi Fudd is 23 right now. #WNBA

As usual, the league posted video of the actual lottery draw - as in, the ping-pong balls being drawn from the machine - for anyone interested. As always, it's incredibly dull. #WNBA

So either Fudd is going #1 or Bueckers is gonna have to sit there and watch her team pass on her... #WNBA

Well that was fun. Basically asked Bethany Donaphin three times if she thought a CBA deal would get done by the deadline and she avoided answering three times. #WNBA

There's a lottery draw stream on WNBA League Pass by the way (at least there is for me over here). #WNBA

WNBA Draft lottery curiosity: Been a long time since we had a 5-team draw, but last time we did Minnesota also owned 2nd spot via a pre-existing trade. It was 2009, they jumped to #1, and the trade that led to got them Lindsay Whalen. Next month they got Rebekkah Brunson via dispersal draft. #WNBA
November 23, 2025 at 10:38 PM
I don't think we have a full consensus on who's going #1 yet (or 2, 3 etc.), but given it's lottery day I'm bringing this one back 👇. Still think this would be a lot of fun. #WNBA
Just had visions of Minnesota getting to add Awa Fam into their system via that Sky pick. Oh boy that could be fun. #EuroBasketWomen #WNBA

As an Evertonian, in some ways I would love a league where you can finish below mid-table and still win the championship...

Does Esme Morgan usually play at right-back for Washington Spirit? More used to seeing her as a centre-back over here.

Just in case anyone checked when they were sold out, the organisers of the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup in Berlin next year posted some more Final Phase and Final Weekend tickets. Some pretty decent ones, too. Links for both can be found at www.eventim.de/campaign/en/.... #FIBAWWC

In my day, after 30 wickets in five sessions the groundsman would've already been packing his bags without needing to be told he was fired.

Gotta be at least three people following me who'll understand that message.

If a duck can hold a basketball, it really ought to be able to dunk from a long way out. Considering it can, y'know, fly.

#1 in the country vs #6 in the country isn't generally supposed to be a monumental mismatch, right?

Hidalgo is obviously a defensive nightmare, but I do think there's significant value in gaining a reputation for being a great defender. She sometimes gets away with defensive aggression that might well be called a foul on other players.
