Growing up, we'd get Chicago's WGN-TV in Tulsa and all I remember from it is Bozo the Clown. Judging by them letting me on their airwaves today, not much has changed.

After a snowstorm that shuts everything down for a few days, ask yourself, "What local business(es) would I be absolutely gutted if they closed?" and go support them!

The Centennial Year Begins

We're only halfway through January and it's been a whirlwind. That is not a surprising fact to my peers in the Route 66 world, as we've all been building towards 2026 for some time now. In fact, when I was elected President of the Oklahoma Route 66 Association in 2019…
The Centennial Year Begins
We're only halfway through January and it's been a whirlwind. That is not a surprising fact to my peers in the Route 66 world, as we've all been building towards 2026 for some time now. In fact, when I was elected President of the Oklahoma Route 66 Association in 2019 that's the first conversation my predecessor had with me. In short: "It's coming, get ready." Well, Here It Is!

I will never get tired of how incredulous the dog is when I've taken his toy. AGAIN.

This little motel in Prescott is the bee's knees! Appropriately called The Motor Lodge.

What an incredible landscape at Lake Havasu City I talked about Route 66's past, present, and future today at the annual Xscapers Bash. They obviously love a good road trip!

Well, I guess that answers that.

When the flight is only half full, it feels like luxury.

I've been looking at this Centennial logo on letterhead and web pages for years and now it's showing up in the Real World. Feels kinda surreal, but the Centennial is HERE! Beautiful 1960 Chrysler 300F by the way.

Today I am thinking of my late cousin, Ron Bridgeford. He was a wonderful pianist and we talked a few times about his favorite compositions. Rachmaninoff was at the top of the list, this piece especially. It simultaneously moves and settles me.

'Lost portraits' from Route 66 exhibition a time capsule of early-20th-century America
Photographer S.J. Tyler set up shop in Afton more than 100 years ago. Many of Tyler's negatives were discovered by a former Tulsan at an antiques market in New York.

A wonderful thread about resilience, independence, and common purpose.
It's time once again for my annual #treebybike post. This is the 12/19/42 cover of @newyorker.com, so one full year after the attack on Pearl Harbor. This would be the first real Christmas alone, or without a family member, for millions in the US. Gas and tire rationing had begun earlier that year.🗃️
