WAKE UP AND OPEN YOUR EYES by @claymcleod.bsky.social @quirkbooks.bsky.social

The horror novel for this moment in time. A deep dive into modern faith & the way brains are taken over by modern media. Terrifying, heartbreaking, & still humorous aka Clay’s brand.

Hi friends! Today I start a winter hiatus from the blog. Life was overfull in 2025 and I'm in need of some hibernating time! I'll be returning to the blog in mid-April 2026. Meanwhile: My Rhymes With Camera Substack will return for a "resolutions" edition on January 2, then skip the February edition and return in March. Still, that's the best way to keep up with me and you can always go back and read the previous editions.

I hope everyone has a really good day. I know those can be hard to find these days, so seek out those who make you feel comfortable, make you smile. Shut out the extra noise that makes you feel depleted or unwell. And do a lil self-protection to secure your personal space! #witchsky

#HorrorWritersChat

A: I've been writing from dream content for decades and recently wrote about this one from back in 1973, pre-internet, cable, cellphones, even faxes. I dreamed the Jonestown massacre the evening on the day it happened. The next day I saw the story on the Oregonian front page.
#HorrorWritersChat Q3

This one is going to be hard.

One of the last things Matt asked us at Horror Writers Chat was to share a horror writing related dream.

This can be;
> an actual dream that inspired you.
> a dream you have for your writing career.

Interpret this any way you’d like.

#HorrorWritersChat

A: Horror narrative is perhaps the most honest form of truthtelling there is, as it catalogs, without flinching, the darkest depths of the human condition.
#Horrorwriterschat Q2:

So many things! I think, in the spirit of both Matt & the chat, so much of it comes down to community and friendship. There's a lot the genre *does* and allows us to explore, but fundamentally, like most human art, it's about sharing with one another and expressing something
#HorrorWritersChat Q2
This is one of Matt’s favourite questions to ask us:

What does horror mean to you?

#HorrorWritersChat
I'm Tamara and I write different kinds of horror (occult/folk/body/supernatural/psychological/cozy/literary) as well as make short poetry films (some of them leaning into horror) and podcast about writing horror at BENEATH THE RAIN SHADOW.
