You’ve heard of Black Friday? Get ready for Frank Black Friday, where @rfwilhelm.bsky.social and I talk about our love for Frank Black, specifically his iconic sophomore solo album - how we discovered it and how it brought us together.

Happy Frank Black Friday! To celebrate, @ingalls1969.bsky.social and I wrote about our mutual love of ‘Teenager of the Year,’ and how it led to us finally meeting IRL after six years of online friendship and collaboration. Chris and I loved writing this essay together and I think it shows.

Elton John’s Captain Fantastic & the Brown Dirt Cowboy has been in steady rotation as one of my all-time favorite albums ever since it was released in 1975. Here is my @popmatters.com review of the fabulous 50th anniversary vinyl reissue.

@ingalls1969.bsky.social and I may have had something to do with this “something cool” and we heartily endorse this message! If you haven’t visited ihavethatonvinyl.com, Frank Black Friday would be a good time to drop by, but really any time is good time to check out ihavethatonvinyl.com .

I've had a missile blow up next to my airplane, been shot at dozens of times by anti-aircraft fire, and launched into orbit — all for my country. I never thought I'd see a President call for my execution.

Trump doesn’t understand the Constitution, and we're all less safe for it.

Blondie has reissued their 1999 album, No Exit, including a first-time vinyl issue. It will come as a surprise to no one who knows me that I reviewed the reissued No Exit for @popmatters.com . @blondieband.bsky.social
Fueled by the international hit "Maria", 1999’s 'No Exit' brought Blondie back to life. The album has an admirable sense of adventure.

@blondieband.bsky.social's deluxe edition of 'No Exit' is out now.

I reviewed a great reissue of Memphis Slim’s 1959 debut album for @popmatters.com . @craftrecordings.bsky.social
'Gate of Horn' highlights a set of new recordings of blues pianist Memphis Slim's best tunes, mostly credited to LC. Frazier, one of Slim's several pseudonyms.

'At the Gate of Horn (Remastered 2025)' is a #PMPick [9/10] out now via @craftrecordings.bsky.social.

New in PN: Trump couldn't (legitimately) win a third term If he tried

"What’s astonishing about the media’s 'third term' coverage is how it doesn’t clearly state the obvious: Voters are openly rejecting Trump, as seen in poll after poll."

Mike Johnson seems to be well on the road to being worst Speaker of the House ever.
Q: How comfortable are you w/Trump seeking $230m from the DOJ?

MIKE JOHNSON: Uh, I don't know the details. I just read it. I know he believes he's owed that reimbursement. What I heard is that if receives it, he's gonna consider giving it to charity. They attack him for everything. *changes topic*

Apparently, the White House does not want anybody to share photos of the ongoing destruction of the East Wing. Like this one.
The White House is asking people not to share pictures of the East Wing because it’s even worse today.

I am trying hard not to lose my fucking mind over this.

I was in Washington D.C. and it seems worth noting that the rally did not take place on the Mall.
Mike Johnson: "The irony was that they called it the No Kings Rally, but if President Trump was a king, the government would be open. If President Trump was a king, he would've closed the nationals parks and the National Mall so they couldn't of had the rally out here."
