Your deconstructed unchurched no-longer-Christian minister

The silence of Christians about the files is why generations of children have been silent about their abuse. We wouldn't have been believed.
Let victims speak without you feeling the need to "not all" it.
For Christians using your platforms for justice, much gratitude.

There is nothing holy about silence that protects harm. It's complicity.

For every survivor who was told to keep quiet—
For every person who was shamed for asking questions—
For every soul reclaiming their voice after harm—

You are not alone.

Every woman was Kaitlan Collins yesterday, standing in that room as a belligerent, misogynist old white man, enraged by her audacity to demand accountability, hurled insults intended to remind her that her value is in her willingness to look pleasing to belligerent men.

Destroy patriarchy.

I pause to listen for wisdom and direction when rage threatens to paralyze me into inaction.
Deconstructing while witnessing injustice and harm done in the name of Christianity can ignite a rage that feels all-consuming.
Rage can burn everything down or it can light the way.

I grew up believing “just as I am” meant acceptance. Over time, I began to see how that phrase was paired with expectation, obedience, silence and how questioning any of it came at a cost.

People posting how shocked they are to see how quickly our systems of government are failing. But people raised in evangelical Christian patriarchy aren't shocked at all. And we know it can get much worse if we keep believing someone is coming to save us.

No one is coming.

This is for those who have felt the dissonance of being told to be “loving” while watching harm go unchallenged, and for those who are learning that compassion sometimes means stepping into discomfort rather than smoothing it over.

History has shown us, again and again, that when white Christian men are positioned as the singular moral compass in times of upheaval, they inevitably seek compromise where boundaries are needed most.
January 23, 2026 at 9:01 PM
There’s a certain arrogance in the phrase, “Seek God.” It’s said as if we’ve somehow lost our way. For many of us, that command isn’t an invitation. It's a reminder of the control Christianity once had over our lives, our worth, and even our ability to think freely.

This is why so many who deconstructed feel relief when they hear it now. Distance brings clarity. You can see how often “God’s will” has been used to demand compliance. You are no longer beholden to a theology that confuses power with righteousness.

The Sunday after Thanksgiving, I posted a video explaining I would be mainly going quiet on social media as I prepared for my upcoming surgery and the time I would need to recover.

A sacred pause, I called it.

The podcaster will ask: “Tell me what deconstructing means to you.”

I’ve answered the question hundreds of times over the years. My first thought is how much I dislike the word “deconstructing.” To be honest, I’ve never liked it. It feels antithetical to what is happening to one...
