Short term? Acts of kindness go far, they remind people that the internet is not all of life and that good people exist. Long term, we must become sane together, or not at all. Returning truth, wisdom, and dignity to public life first means convincing people that those things are worth the effort.
Indeed there is, and in the Eastern world as well. Greed and corruption don't care about tribal boarders. For decades powerful people have made selfish, shortsighted choices for their own gain. We as an entire people are suffering for it. We need a Sapio-Renaissance, a new age of enlightenment.
Our past doesn't have to dictate the future. Like never before we are able to communicate nationally and instantly. If we can all rise to it, there's a challenge to bring real equality to this country. We have it in us to be a beacon of hope for the rest of the world. We can make it exist.
To be equal is to have true dignity. We have the inviolable rights to exist, to will freely, to know the truth. Nor can we be denied justice or reduced to objects. It is only human immorality that keeps this from being our reality. Our acts in this lifetime can reclaim dignity for all.
These issues run far deeper than Republican vs Democrat. Our nation began to fray with Reagan's attacks on the education system, derailing us from a prosperous future. We have been in the fall for 58 years, left and right. We need to save ourselves and save the future of the USA.
Delusion and hysteria know no borders. Echo chamber social media has deluded the general public's ability to know reality. Trump regularly pushes false narratives and is lying to the face of every one of his supporters. This division is fabricated for the benefit of the super rich.
Schadenfreude, it is very real and I don't discount it. But the internet and media over-represent how many people actually do things with malice. A hateful act affects our group psyche so deeply that it feels like the threat is coming from everywhere. We're divided because it's profitable.
Do you know Plato's allegory of the cave? We can't free anyone from this cave by declaring it full of monsters and moving on. If there's a chance to show someone the truth I'll take it. If not, c'est la vie.
In conversation such as the one he began, I'm inspired by Luke 15 if you're familiar with it. I live with the belief that making others less miserable will make us all less miserable. We humans are complicated, but ultimately we do what we do out of self-preservation. Sometimes it leads us astray.
Can you define it for me then? I'm happy to break down where Trump violated his oath of office, but would you believe me? If you tell me who you trust for information I'll help you find the facts.
Tempting as it may be, I don't think red state have throw in the towel on democracy. The Trump team (and Musk) spent billions manipulating the flow of information into red and swing states, the citizens of those areas were force fed a false narrative about Harris, Trump, and the state of the world.
The U.S Constitution is the highest authority of law. By definition, it IS the United States. That document is meant to be amended by the People through congress. The President has absolutely no authority to question the Constitution unless they are advocating for an amendment.
There is an unbroken chain of kindness between you and someone who needs it, whether you know it or not. Good acts carry weight and inspire others, just as bad acts spread harm. Live your life as if your actions matter, because they absolutely do.
Make no mistake, this is a fight to preserve the United States of America. Trump is attacking the Constitution of every level, his actions are anti-American, anti-democracy. This isn't hyperbole or Democrat vs Republican. The other side of Trumps finish line is a fascist state.
I don't think we ever stopped being tribal. We just redefined the communities. Our tribes became faith, political alignment, sports, work... its like we're members of shifting and fleeting tribes all positions for influence and control both digitally and physically.
True. Power is rarely surrendered peacefully. But we as a people are very good at achieving the impossible, a peaceful world wide paradigm shift in what it means to be human sounds impossible. But so did every other human accomplishment.
They do now, yes, but that's the revolution on the horizon. If we first build the story of what tomorrow could be, then maybe we as a people can believe in it. I believe we're going to see great change within this lifetime.
Trump has been the face of the era of preventable plagues. His response to covid, the resurgence of childhood diseases, the coming flesh-eating screw worm epidemic from the south. The tools for a healthy tomorrow are at our fingertips, but the Trump admin is pulling us all back into the cesspit.
There is still hope. A wise enough leader can reverse the damage and get us back on course to a prosperous future. Its going to take a lot more money to rebuild than it was to keep, but its not impossible. History shows periods of enlightenment following attacks on knowledge.
Many are trying, but some Republican congresspersons have been told to not hold in-person town halls and ignore complaints from their constituents regarding Trump policies. They subdued our ability to use our voice.
Hopefully Leo helps change that. So many betrayed the trust of their community, betrayed the very foundations of faith, and took steps to cover-up/downplay their sexual assault of children. The church must face that betrayal if it wants to earn back the trust of the public.
I wish it were so, but empathy is skill. It must be taught, honed, and practiced. Some of us experience empathy naturally and freely, for others, well you needn't look at other lifeforms to find callousness. We must share knowledge to grow, and acknowledge that others may lack what we have.
It is sacred. Voting is the act of collectively deciding our fate. We gather together and say "Let our will be done", and like magic, the world changes around a few printed words on a ballot. If someone manipulates voting for their own gain...its a sin against us all, and we should be furious.
The challenge is empathy must be taught. One must understand the depths of their own soul to be able to relate it to others, for many religions are the engine that drives the lesson. Myth can inspire the soul, but it can also blind us from reality.
