New video! Here is my in-depth review of the AYN Thor. youtu.be/DeGFRB0Mor8
Here is my in-depth review of the Lenovo Legion Go 2. It's got all the features we asked for, at a price that nobody wanted. youtu.be/9fm1TwxR_WE
The AYN Thor ended up arriving earlier than expected, here are my initial impressions: youtu.be/B2sUrakqWt0
New video! Here is my review of the GPD Win 5, which is BY FAR the most powerful handheld in the world right now. (Also the priciest.)

Let's dive in: youtu.be/I9XBZgtG-0E

New video! AYANEO's first "budget" branded handheld reminds me of the Odin 2, but is more powerful and with a better display. And it has an insane starting price of $240, making it one of the most exciting handhelds they've ever made. youtu.be/rw22H2bk0oc
New video! Ever wondered which stylus works best for DS/3DS emulation? Well, I tested a bunch for you. youtu.be/BoYp30Meki0
It's been about four months since the Retroid Pocket Classic released, so here is an update video discussing why it's become my "favorite Game Boy": youtu.be/aFScJixrmRI
New video! Here is my final review of the Anbernic RG476H. It's one of their best-ever handhelds, but whether it's worth buying will really come down to what you want to play, and what you already own. youtu.be/cCx4BpIrTRY
New video! Here is my final review of the AYANEO Pocket DS. It's an excellent (but expensive) Android handheld, and two screens are often better than one. youtu.be/NX90e3h-XOg
New video! It's easier than ever to play Steam games on Android, complete with cloud saves. It's so seamless that it finally feels like it's worth checking out for everyone, not just those with a PhD in Winlator configuration. youtu.be/uPhMDCA2iEA
Nothing official but I am expecting around $160
Here is an early look at the Anbernic RG476H, which feels like a "greatest hits compilation" handheld in the best way. youtu.be/8NfTTpgDSzc
New video! In a year where everything just gets more expensive, the $50 GameSir X5s feels like a breath of fresh air. Works great on Android, Apple, Windows, and Switch 1&2. Full review: youtu.be/oo-RIoPzpRA
Here are my first impressions of the AYANEO Pocket DS: youtu.be/XQ4d1rzhofM

HUGE beautiful screens, software is mostly seamless, and it feels high quality. But it's also expensive, bulky, and the controls are a little cramped to make way for that big bottom screen.
New video! Here is my (long overdue) guide on Beacon Launcher, a simple and snappy frontend launcher for Android-based devices. It can pull images from SteamGridDB, which gives your games a nice custom look: youtu.be/dDIyZBYpdbs
New video! The Game Bub is a promising new open-source FPGA handheld, focused on GBA but with the potential for additional systems. Here are my initial impressions of this prototype: youtu.be/78HPoapbPVw
New video! Let's talk about gaming on tablets vs dedicated handhelds: youtu.be/_gH6jupChWs
Retroid fixed the latency on their dual-screen attachment, but also introduced some compatibility hiccups along the way. One step forward, one step back: youtu.be/k1tmGSGN96g
Correction: the start time is 9:30PM ET (6:30PM PT)
If you do happen to pre-order one, I would be very grateful if you used my affiliate link, as that provides me with a small compensation at no extra cost to you. There's a non-affiliate link above if you would prefer to use that!
The pre-order discount is only $10 per unit, my advice would be to wait until after the first batch of units are in customer's hands if you have concerns about the various hiccups that often come with initial product releases (particularly screen/software bugs or hinge issues).
I'd only recommend the "Max" ($430) variant if you plan on using it for RAM-intensive functions like Winlator, or if you want that 1TB of internal storage. Emulation generally won't require more than 8GB of RAM (only rarely with Switch or Wii U emulation).
The Lite and Base only come in black, other tiers will have additional color options. Personally, I am ordering the SD8Gen2 "Pro" ($350) model because I prefer the rainbow color option, and I think that 12GB RAM might give me some extra juice when pushing content to two screens.
There are two CPU options: the "Lite" SD865 ($250), which is the same processor as the Retroid Pocket 5 and its variants. The other models (Base/Pro/Max) have the SD8Gen2 ($300+), same processor as the Odin 2 devices.
The AYN Thor will go up for pre-order today (25Aug) at 10:30PM ET (7:30PM PT). Their website is now live, but it will say "sold out" until that time. Shipping is expected to start in October. 🧵
