Once it's gone, it's gone! Bottles of our original Retribution Gin are now extremely limited, and we'll be slightly tweaking the next batch for a very exciting reason: we'll be managing the entire production process from grain to glass.
Missed out on a bottle of our second limited edition whisky release? We've heard that Independent Spirit of Bath, one of our amazing local stockists, still have a small number of bottles left that you can order from their webshop.
Did you know that Retribution Vodka, despite being one of our newest spirits, won gold awards from both Taste of the West and the IWSC? It's the perfect base for your martinis and cosmopolitans this International Vodka Day: https://f.mtr.cool/wczlesdgxs
Most notably, Retribution is known for having recently released Somerset's first and only whisky, and we hope to release the first peated whisky made with Somerset peat in the coming years.
After earning awards and completing a Brewing and Distilling course at Heriot Watt, Rich discovered that distilling was his true passion and founded the Retribution Distilling we know and love today.
It was a hobby that transformed into a desire to brew the best beer possible, and Rich continued to work on this mission when he moved to Somerset, where he set up shop in his garden shed.
Long before we planted our roots in Somerset and started distilling spirits, Rich started out by brewing beer in his lean-to in Plymouth.
Since we're in the throes of Oktoberfest, we thought we'd share a little Retribution history - did you know that we started out as Retribution Brewing?
This three-year-old whisky sits at 53% ABV and its flavour is heavily influenced by the Oloroso hogshead it matured in, bringing a nuttiness and fruitiness to our smooth and creamy new make.
Did you know that we've already released three limited edition whiskies?
With PR001 and PR002 completely sold out in our webshop, we're expecting the last bottles of PR003 to be snapped up fast.
Somewhere between 3-6 years of age, we'll bottle the whiskies at cask strength. We're looking forward to hearing what you think of the two distinct flavours the casks create!
Both are filled with our new make spirit at 60% ABV. The new make was produced from Maris Otter distilling malt and mashed, fermented and double pot-distilled in direct-fired copper pot stills at our distillery in Somerset.
Cask 008 is an ex-Pedro Ximenez sherry quarter cask while Cask 009 is an ex-Oloroso sherry quarter cask.
Casks 008 and 009 are almost sold out! If you don't want to miss out on these one-of-a-kind limited edition whiskies, head to our website and preorder a bottle before it's too late: https://f.mtr.cool/nvjypqudlf
Now that our distillery has expanded to produce rum, whisky and vodka, we're not just capable of doing this but passionate about taking the leap, creating a new base gin will retain similar flavours to the original but will be shaped by the place and people that made it.
Though we're very proud of the first spirit we put to market and the IWSC Bronzes it's been awarded, we're keen to make our gin a true spirit of the place by managing the process of gin creation all the way from grain to glass.
