And now the mall may be coming down, as the owners of Exton Square are in talks to purchase Berkshire and give it a demolition makeover.
Unfortunate, but not unexpected news. Another Pittsburgh icon to disappear in the name of that lie called progress.
As feared... Walmart's intent in their surprise-purchase of Monroeville Mall is to demolish it outright, with tenants told to vacate by April 2027.

Walmart is seeking $7.5m from Pennsylvania's Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program toward the project.

The mall has been abandoned since 2022, after a long period of decline. The demolition will be the first step of planned industrial reuse for the site.

Speaking of Foot Locker, news broke earlier this week that Dick's Sporting Goods has completed their $2.4 billion purchase of the chain. With this, the last remnants of the storied F.W. Woolworth Corporation disappears.

Like the Twin Towers before it, Northridge Mall is now just a memory. And we are the furthest from united we could be since the aftermath of that horrible day.
This "United We Stand" message was disovered in the abandoned Foot Locker in Northridge Mall in Milwaukee back in 2018.

This was displayed in light of the 9/11 attacks. The store and the mall would be closed, barely a year later, on September 1st, 2002.
