The International Energy Agency (IEA) has indicated that the world may have already passed “peak coal”. A new “age of electricity” is expected with demand increasing by an average of 3.6% each year over the remainder of the decade.

Australia added a nuke-equivalent of wind & solar every year for 8 years— accelerating. 6 replaced coal, 2 met new demand. Grid batteries now add a nuke-equivalent every ~22 months, delivering more overnight power than nuclear & charging on cheap solar. Prices are back at 2017 levels, trending down.

Should we have a naming convention for severe heat waves in Australia? For example: "Heat Flash Gina"? Or maybe a rating system such as “Category 4 Heatwave”?

They can be associated with a rise in mortality of up to 25%, so Dr Monique Ryan MP thinks so.

www.thenewdaily.com.au/opinion/2026...
As temperatures to rise, it's time to name heatwaves what they are
We should start by calling heat what it is – a silent killer – and by asking those who profit from it to own their share of that harm.

We need to get an Australian solar panel & battery recycling scheme underway asap. If we can do it with drink containers & tyres, why not the RE industry?

It just needs government action.

Renewables share of the Australian energy mix is increasing but the costs aren't (yet) flowing through to consumers. Here's an explanation WHY.

Hint: it has nothing to do with the cost of installing renewables.

Here's a timber mill in NZ that's installed a 340kW solar system on one of their buildings and getting a 5 - 6 year ROI. So now, they're adding another 390kW solar array on a second building.

My heart goes out to these residents & holiday campers. ☹️

We've always had weather extremes, but these events are increasing in frequency, severity & 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐦.

Isn't it time we started acknowledging & discussing #ClimateChange?

The switch to EVs in Australia is continuing - at least if access to fast-charging stations is any guide. 💹

Don't forget that EVs are just mobile batteries on wheels. Whenever there's disruption from the grid, a typical modern fully-charged car will hold enough stored energy to power the average home for at least a day - and probably several. ⚡

This #GinaRinehart #PaulineHansen video is a year old, but it's interesting to revisit as it's the first time I've seen a plausible explanation of who the 3rd person (back to the camera) is. Is it former #LiberalParty VP & #SkyNews favourite Teena McQueen?

Just a reminder that Amber Electric have a "Solar and Battery Calculator" on their website where you can quickly calculate the Return on Investment (ROI).

These days there are better EV options than Teslas, nevertheless a funny & poignant post by content creator Ryan and his "Ryan's Model Y" FB page. 🤣

Solar roofs are nothing new - especially for carports.

These guys from GoodWe PVBM have gone a step further. They've developed bifacial panels - basically a PV surface on both top & bottom. It does make sense. The reflected sunlight off the concrete base adds an extra 5% efficiency to the setup.

Money really does matter in the trucking business. This company in NZ is paying <$500 per kWh for their EV truck batteries (about half the current rate for a home battery) AND getting a free truck thrown in.

N.B. Listen also to what he has to say about reliability.

With 3 days in 2025 still to go, it seems that ONCE AGAIN the record books will be rewritten. A rather dubious honour unfortunately; 2025 will likely be the #2 or #3 hottest year globally - since records have been kept. 🙁

An Etrucks battery swapping machine in NZ: 5 minutes to drive in and drive out on a full charge. The batteries trickle charge from solar whilst his fleet is out on the road.
