While the initial brain injury doesn’t change, cerebral palsy’s effect—from years or decades of wear and tear—often does change as people age. This can include decreased balance, stamina, walking ability, and other effects. #CerebralPalsy

About 1 million people in the U.S. have cerebral palsy, and over 70 million Americans identify as disabled in some way. While people with CP are far from alone, it can be difficult to meet other people who share their experiences.

Tell us: How do you meet other people who have disabilities?
STEPtember is just around the corner! Have you participated before? Help us get into the STEPtember spirit by posting your favorite photo in your STEPtember gear! Make sure to tag us at @researchforCP and use #STEP25 and #CPARF in your posts so we can connect 🫶

#CerebralPalsy doesn't usually run in families! Only about 1% of people with CP have a sibling who also has CP. Even among twins, when one has CP, only about 10% of their co-twins will have it.

Tell us: Does anyone else in your family have CP?
People with cerebral palsy face countless challenges, from managing symptoms to facing inaccessibility in the world. Not all of these challenges are obvious to people who don't have CP.

Tell us: What challenges do you face related to #CerebralPalsy that others might not know about?
We were thrilled to include Participant Assistive Products in the 2022 cohort of our assistive technology accelerator, Remarkable US. Participant Assistive Products' mission is to democratize quality assistive products.
