Weakening Hep B vaccination for newborns is not “reassessment.” It’s a step backward that puts infants at risk. We owe it to families to raise the bar on public health, not lower it.

US vaccine advisers say not all babies need a hepatitis B shot at birth
A federal vaccine advisory committee has voted to end a longstanding recommendation that all U.S. babies get the hepatitis B vaccine on the day they’re born.

This World AIDS Day, the U.S. stepped back when it should have stepped up. People living with HIV deserve visibility, dignity, and commitment. We must not turn our backs on this fight. #WorldAIDSDay2025

The U.S. will not commemorate World AIDS Day this year. This action, along with recent federal funding cuts, could contribute to a resurgence of HIV/AIDS.

On World AIDS Day, we honor those we’ve lost and fight for those living with HIV/AIDS. The Bronx deserves full access to testing, treatment, and prevention. Ending this epidemic is both a public health and moral imperative.

I categorically oppose any and all attempts at regime change, including in Venezuela. The US must stop entangling itself in endless wars that endanger American lives, deepen American debt, and do nothing to serve American interests.

The Bronx has some of the highest rates of advanced lung cancer. I partnered with Weill Cornell to bring a mobile lung cancer screening unit to NY-15, and I’m introducing legislation to strengthen insurance coverage for annual screenings. Early detection saves lives.

I am deeply grateful for the trail Nydia Velázquez has blazed. From championing Puerto Rico to fighting for public housing, she has been a powerful voice for the most vulnerable among us. She leaves Congress not only as an elected official but as an icon.

SNAP keeps families fed and healthy. Trump’s plan to force new applications is pointless bureaucracy that hurts children and low-income households.

We should make food assistance easier to access, not harder.

Visited the Riverdale Y and RAIN Senior Centers to hear how the shutdown is affecting older adults. Directors report a sharp rise in lunch attendance, because for many, it’s their biggest meal of the day. Our elders deserve dignity. This shutdown must end.

This week, @repglatimer.bsky.social and I led a coalition of Bronx elected officials in urging Secretary Rubio and the U.S. Department of State to deliver immediate emergency aid to Jamaica following the catastrophic destruction caused by Hurricane Melissa.

BREAKING: A federal court just ordered Trump's administration to restore SNAP benefits during the shutdown. This is a critical step forward for my over 272K constituents in the Bronx who depend on food assistance to feed their families, but we must remain vigilant.

The Trump administration is willing to let 42 million Americans go hungry rather than do their job. We're demanding Secretary Rollins use available SNAP funding for November benefits. Taking food from seniors and kids isn't a budget strategy.

In 2 days, Donald Trump will cut off SNAP benefits for more than 3 million New Yorkers. Not because the USDA doesn't have the money, but because he thinks starving people helps him politically.

@reprileyny.bsky.social and I led a letter demanding that Trump reverse course and fund SNAP now.
