On #IndigenousPeoplesDay, we honor the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Native Americans. I stand with Indigenous communities in #MD02 and across the country in the ongoing fight for equality.

It is critical that all parties act without delay to carry this progress forward and implement the next phase of the plan—paving the way for a stable and peaceful future for Israelis and Palestinians.

This moment must mark more than an end to suffering — it must be the first step of a sustained push for peace and security across the region.

Today, we breathe a collective sigh of relief as the hostages finally return home after years of torture, fear, and uncertainty. As we celebrate this long-awaited reunion, we also hold close in our hearts the families mourning loved ones lost since October 7.

The Trump Admin is using this shutdown as an excuse to fire thousands of federal workers. It’s illegal, and it’s designed to make the shutdown permanent.

I introduced the SAFE Act to stop these attacks and make sure workers get the back pay they’re owed.

Week 2️⃣ of the Republican shutdown, and I'm back in D.C. fighting to reopen the government and protect healthcare for millions.

Grateful to my friend Senator Charles Sydnor for his leadership in Baltimore County as we keep pushing for a bipartisan deal to get this done.

It DOES have everything to do with the Epstein files.

President Trump signed the 2019 law guaranteeing back pay for federal workers during shutdowns. Now he’s trying to break it.

Federal workers shouldn’t pay the price for his political games or failed leadership.

We’re at @bwiairport.bsky.social, where TSA officers & air traffic controllers are working without pay during the shutdown. Let's make it clear:

1️⃣ Federal workers are not political pawns
2️⃣ Airports are being negatively impacted
3️⃣ Compromise requires a seat at the table

Week two of the Republican shutdown.

Democrats have a plan to restore healthcare funding & reopen the government, but House GOP won’t show up because Speaker Johnson canceled votes.

Maybe it's because when the House returns, we’ll have the votes to release the Epstein files. 🤷‍♂️

As we work toward that future, may the memory of those lost that tragic day, and all of those lost since, forever be a blessing.

That's why I welcome the proposed American-led peace deal as a hopeful path forward—one that brings the hostages home, expands humanitarian aid, delegitimizes Hamas, and lays the groundwork for a lasting and just peace.

That day also began a devastating war, causing immense suffering in Gaza. As we reflect on this painful anniversary, we must remember that Israel’s long-term security depends not just on strength, but on democracy, human rights, and the rule of law—values that form the foundation of our alliance.

Today marks two years since the darkest day for the Jewish people since the Holocaust. The brutal murder of 1,200 people remains a deep and lasting pain for Jewish communities everywhere, including MD-02. We mourn the lives lost and pray for the return of 48 hostages, including two Americans.

Members of Congress should be treated exactly the same as we’re asking employees of this government to be treated.

I'm withholding my congressional pay for the duration of the federal government shutdown, and I call on my colleagues in both the House and Senate to do the same.

Speaker Johnson has:

❌ Shut down your government
❌ Canceled all legislative business
❌ Refused to swear in Rep.-Elect Grijalva

Why? Because she’s the final vote needed to force the release of the Epstein files.

My office is OPEN and working for you during the Republican Shutdown.

Shutdowns are one of Trump’s greatest talents! 🏆

Failed businesses, bankrupt casinos, fraudulent universities… and now 3 government shutdowns.

Wishing all who observe in #MD02 and beyond a meaningful and blessed Yom Kippur. G’mar Chatimah Tovah!

The Republican Shutdown has begun because GOP leaders refuse to negotiate in good faith, leaving hundreds of thousands of federal workers in MD and across the country caught in the middle. They’re not pawns—they’re our neighbors, public servants, and families with bills to pay.

What does a government shutdown mean for you?

As we work to reopen the government, my shutdown resource guide can help federal employees and families navigate the impacts: olszewski.house.gov/shutdown

Trump and House GOP shut down the government.

Yesterday, every Democrat showed up to keep the government open. The Republicans side of the House chamber was empty.
repjohnnyo.bsky.social
Speaker Johnson, it's past time to swear in Rep-Elect Grijalva.

During Trump’s 2018 government shutdown, 420,000 federal workers were forced to work without pay.

I cosponsored @alsobrooks.senate.gov & @elfreth.house.gov’s Help FEDS Act to ensure that during a shutdown, these workers can apply for unemployment insurance to help stay afloat.
