It was an honor to join the Baton Rouge Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. for their Kids Congress: The People’s House event! These bright young minds learned about how government works, what a bill is, and why laws exist. The future looks bright!

Today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders. Today, I returned to my alma mater, McKinley Senior High, to remind them that their voices matter. In today’s political climate, it’s critical that our young people understand how government works and how they can shape it for the better.

What a joy it was to join our seniors for Senior Skip Day with the EBR Council on Aging. Behind every laugh and dance move was a reminder of why this work matters. I’ll always stand up for the policies that put our seniors first.

The seat I currently hold was created by the Louisiana legislature last January. Today we were expecting the Supreme Court to rule on whether the current map will be in place for the remainder of this decade.
