Day 30: Marketing is the thing I'm the absolute worst at. Unfortunately, I have no tips regarding that but if anyone wants to share tips with me, I wouldn't mind!

I left Repticon with a jumping spider and a tarantula. My spouse is dismayed. Anyway, I won’t post pics of my new pets in case of phobias but here’s the jumping spider enclosure I set up before putting him in there (no spider in the photo)

Day 27: I'm thankful for the true friends that I have, the partner that supports me, and the home that we've made

Day 28: I collect pins! Books and plushies too, I guess but we don't count those.

And now I'm caught up!

Day 25: I haven't drawn in a bit but here are a few older pieces I did

Day 26: I usually have a placeholder book title and write. If I come up with a title that feels natural, then that becomes the new placeholder. Repeat until I finish the book

Day 23: I don't really have any advice for dealing with imposter syndrome but if someone has advice for me, I too struggle with it.

Day 24: I don't listen to music when I write. I get distracted so I limit distractions and essentially write in silence.

Last night was the finale of the Vaesen campaign I was GMing and a player’s birthday party. I made my players crochet lindworm plushies as gifts relevant to the campaign session (lindworm babies hatching)!

Day 20: I honestly cannot tell you where I find inspiration. I'd just be going about my day and I'd have an idea out of nowhere.

Day 21: I don't watch a lot of shows or movies, but I've rewatched Aggretsuko a few times.

Day 18: One of my favorite characters I've created is a crazy professor that doesn't stop talking. It's always fun when I get to scenes with him in it!

Day 19: I think the most difficult part of writing for me is staying focused without getting distracted.

Day 16: I’m a pantser. I really tried to be a plotter but something about outlines make my characters and my brain take a hard left.

Day 17: My hobbies include reading and writing (of course), crochet, drawing, and tabletop RPGs!

Day 15: Frey’s carefully braided bun was now askew, draping over shoulder, braids coming undone in twisted curls and ringlets while other unruly strands stood straight up as if they were soldiers at attention.

Day 14: At the moment I only have my bearded dragon, Veles. He always needs to know what I’m doing and likes to jump on me in the mornings

Day 12:
Good advice - Write what you would pick up and read.
Bad advice I've recently encountered - Prologues and epilogues are never necessary (this really depends on the story, sorry)

Day 13: I mainly write in my little home office

Days 9, 10, & 11: My cutest bookshelf is the one in my office (pictured).

I don’t have a favorite line yet. I’m mostly still just trying to make the story make sense.

I read and write mostly fantasy and some sci-fi!

Day 8:
::Warden of stolen souls, give me your name.:: A voice like a wispy growl that could have been mistaken for the whistling of the wind if not for the clear words echoed in Frey’s head as the vague shape of a person flickered into view through the swirling dust winds.

Day 7: Reading a good novel or crocheting always helps me relax. When crocheting, I especially like to make little amigurumi dolls.

Days 5 & 6: I’m currently reading the 2nd book of “An Ember in the Ashes” series by Sabaa Tahir.

A helpful tool is OneLook Thesaurus. It acts like a normal thesaurus but also gives me words that fit vague descriptions when I forget a word. www.onelook.com/thesaurus/

Days 3 & 4: I don’t have a WIP playlist. I get too distracted (I’m one of those that read and write in silence).

Inspiring authors are always changing but my current favorites are Brandon Sanderson, Rachel Gillig, V.E. Schwab, M.A. Carrick, and S.A. Chakraborty

A bit late to the party so I’ll do a couple days at a time until I catch up.

Days 1 & 2: I’m Rena and I’m currently writing my first novel. I wrote mainly short stories before this. I’ve been writing since I was in middle school.

Hammajang Luck by Makana Yamamoto was a fun read. If you like heists, sci-fi, and LGBT-centered stories, I recommend this book!

The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle is a classic! If you like themes of extinction and the effects of greed and an epic adventure with soft vibes, you’ll love this book. All ages can enjoy it!

Finished Chain-Gang All-Stars by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah! A haunting commentary on the American penal system, it’s worth the read. Be warned: it is a heavy read and contains graphic violence, police brutality, and sexual content.

I enjoyed reading Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V.E. Schwab! If you like sapphic romance and vampires, you might enjoy this book. Be aware that it’s a good bit more graphic than Schwab’s other works. CW for SA and sexual content
