Dog-lover. Currently without doggo, so I play with food, but fetch just isn’t the same anymore. Inhaling petrichor. 🇨🇦 Pluviophile | Essentialism | Microadventures

Hello and bonjour from beautiful British Columbia, Canada. Chasing blue skies over here because even this pluviophile needs clear skies, and both rain and sun make things grow. Always learning; keeping life + business simple; minimizing plastic waste + ultra-processed food (UPF) consumption.
Only $575?? Please add a couple of zeroes. Some insulated jackets cost more.
Tough garden decision to make: This bed was dedicated to raspberries for the last 4 yrs. I ❤️ raspberries during the few wks they’re in season, but it’s essentially lost real estate for the rest of the year. No plans to get another bed + no intention/place to move them to in-ground. Keep or not? 😵‍💫
Just checked: Colgate tooth powder is still available. I got these from a local refillery. I'm not a dentist or dental hygienest, but other than wanting fluoride or hydroxyapatite (as is with these tablets), I would think just a toothbrush + floss are sufficient. We just want a minty aftertaste.
Am planning a little #bikepacking trip that will be more #plasticfree. Will pack these. I tried one; it’s not bad at all, just different.
Finally addressing the bigger landscaping at home to address FireSmart BC recommendations. It'll all happen in phases, but the first key steps are done - it's been preying on my mind for years. Best of all, we removed enough tall growth near the house to open up the garden to more light!
I’ve been comparing the polls to passing the puck back and forth in front of the hockey net. A Liberal win counts only when we all vote and put that puck most definitvely to the back of the net.

Yay for gardening pants! My gardening jeans need some TLC before the growing season really ramps up, though. The denim's worn thin in more places. Started hardening off my seedlings today.
Cool! A second one! 🇨🇦💯
Canada is everything.
What I appreciate most is that the Canadian grassroots responses align with the direction of provincial, territorial, and federal govts. These are intuitively unified efforts.
It’s not that such people don’t understand it; it’s just how bullies think, talk, and act. “I get to push you around, but how dare you stand up to me?”
There’s really nothing to do out there during the winter anyway. Still chilly, but the sun felt great. Started your seeds yet?
All I did in the garden today was prune away dead strawberry leaves and geranium stems to welcome the new green growth. And the next door neighbours don’t know it, but I dug up and potted up chives and parsley for them.
In addition to the green onion survivalists, I noticed a few crocuses blooming in the front yard, like, randomly in the yard among the grass. Squirrels be gardening? 😉
A stand of green onions are still intact and green after our winter. This is why I greatly appreciate veg that can be "stored" in-ground for a while rather than harvesting them and deciding whether to dehydrate, freeze, or consume right away. So far, green onions/scallions do this really well.

+1. Even before any boycotts, this simple life approach achieves abundance so much more than mindless consumerism.
If you're boycotting Amazon, Target, Walmart et al, you can find what you want somewhere else. And if you can't...
I just hope that in an effort to facilitate the U.S.’s brain drain, especially in the medical field, that we review and verify considered candidates for their past, current, and future support of vaccinations and PPE for airborne diseases?
Anyway, that was an approach I tried. I hope someone recommends completely distracting stuff for you.
I chose art for the images - colours, textures, shapes, forms. Using different brain pathways to rest the ones overcome through work. I’m in comms, so I can tire of words.
Ah. So you’re looking for a lighter content (still in the reading realm?). While I may not have specific titles to recommend, I borrowed a huge pile of artsy library books – anything that provided fresh images + ideas that was unfamiliar - when I felt overwhemed recently. Different brain fodder. 🤞
I'm in the middle of reading it! I'm ok with it being so timely... am not interested in "getting back to normal" or complacency when real life needs us.
Also, they tasted awful the last time I bought some a couple of months ago. Shortlived, wimpy chocolate flavour and bland filling. It was all about crunch and sweetness. Low on flavour. Not worth buying anymore even without tariffs.
Whoops, methinks I got overexcited about starting seeds and sowed my sunflowers waaay too soon. I don’t think I can maintain these pretties for the next few months at the rate they are growing. I sowed them just 1.5 wks ago. Rechecking my 2024 garden journal… I didn’t sow them until late April! 😆
