i just discovered the existence of an object called the rog xbox ally x
like come the fuck on
regresssion.bsky.social
he's just so photoshoppable tho....
regresssion.bsky.social
like yes i do not take pleasure from the tacking to the centre but i would hope we're all grown ups able to do some tactical war of position type thinking among people broadly on our side yknow
regresssion.bsky.social
im even more concerned with people who supposedly do not have very online politics (journos, authors, academics) doing the same thing lol
regresssion.bsky.social
the ones where i will lose if i get distracted by whatevers on my phone or second monitor

important life advice
regresssion.bsky.social
the one i was pretending about was going to the dining room to hang out in the villa in san gimignano
regresssion.bsky.social
there are many times it is easier to hitch a gondola ride than take the mass transit option (quick travel)
regresssion.bsky.social
oh i definitely think you do 2 and i pretended to do the third
regresssion.bsky.social
i mean this was the turning point smh

being a game where you do european things like having a leisurely lunch or taking a small private taxi for an awkward trip that public transport doesn't quite cover or admiring renaissance art without really knowing what you're looking at
regresssion.bsky.social
look at my wildly enthused face in front of its high temple
tbh the last train was not very delayed and was a lovely place to be for four and a half hours
regresssion.bsky.social
as for AC i don't think they've made a Europe game that is about being in Europe since brotherhood. they have the soul of the quebecois which is strange and uncanny and possibly nefarious
regresssion.bsky.social
you don't need a europeans soul to appreciate britain. this is why sword/shield was better than x/y and scarlet/violet
regresssion.bsky.social
i think you need to have a european soul to enjoy paris

so im trying to figure out how the qualitative specificity of gender is articulated in the disadvantage and devaluation that accrues to gender. i dont think cf endnotes or winant/battistoni we can sustain this explanation with a sex-blind labour market expressing prior sexed disadvantage
regresssion.bsky.social
if gender were a thing merely shoving people into worse bargaining positions, it should be more homogeneous and more contiguous with other forms of oppression (fully admitting they can be subject to different dynamics)
regresssion.bsky.social
that just doesnt seem to happen - women have a lower labour participation rate *and* a lower unemployment rate, and labour lit seems to say the labour-cost of womanhood is shrinking while racial gaps are increasing. and the occupational/industry distributions dont match either
regresssion.bsky.social
the problem im thinking around is that the qualitative distribution isnt actually even - if everyone with low bargaining power ended up in shit, coincidentally service/care, work we would expect some qualitative similarities to the labour/exclusion that different marginalised ppl do experience
regresssion.bsky.social
the sidestep here is that women are in shit jobs because they have the historic marginalisation of sexism to contend with, and its genuinely coincidental that the content of the jobs is affective, caring, reproductive etc. it meets a historical moment where everyone gets shuffled into this work
regresssion.bsky.social
pretty much every marxist theory of gender involves some kind of personal devaluation that organises women+the feminised into low/unpaid work. its harder from there to explain why the work is so routinely reproductive in nature
regresssion.bsky.social
im trying to make a conscious effort to spell out my work a little more clearly to other people, it gives me a lot of motivation and joy when i do. today really has been for trying to figure out what i think about this very much load bearing argument from gabe winant
