Elections with US guns aimed at the country are not free or fair. The US wants Felix Maradiaga to be Nicaragua's next president because all the opposition leaders decided they agreed with the US on that. Yeah.

US is aiming at you to elect its choice of leader. US did this to get Violetta Chamorro in power, and nobody says she did anything useful to make the country more prosperous. She did talk the guys to give up most of their weapons. Ortega Ver. 2 did more for Nicaragua.

She talked pretty and claimed to know for a fact that the election was rigged. Venezuela is a mess, but the boat murders are not just of Venezuelans (something like nationals from six different nations).

If she had wide based popular support, she wouldn't be begging the US to invade and install her by force. If we armed her without invading, the arms would end up widely distributed.

Another American woman in her sixties and I were with two 20 something friends of her son, ordering lunch. The waitress went into over drive pissed off, genuinely rude service. The other gringa noticed. I pointed out what it looked like. "Oh, no, these are friends of my son."

Some cultures are nuttier than other cultures. US is particularly nutty on this issue. Keep learning the language, get Usenet and look at Alt.binaries. older women or whatever. Also watch some porn with older women -- check out cougar stuff, MILF stuff.

One of the things about down here is if a population wants to get rid of a really bad leader, they do it without asking the US to invade. Asking the US to invade means they don't have sufficient popular support to win an election or get the population moving.

Most of the industrialized world and many not yet industrialized countries have the basic Bismarckian safety nets including zero tuition university education, nationalized health systems, some subsidy or better for public transportation. Businesses don't have to also be insurance specialists.

Almost nobody is completely Old School state-planned economy anymore. Even Cuba is allowing private enterprise up to 100 employees. Vietnam went full private enterprise for a while but is now adding back socialized medicine.

What works for US urban areas tends to work for urban areas even in other countries. Agricultural areas either fully industrialize production, which requires capital investment, or you have cheap manual labor to keep prices down.

Oklahoma has a population of 4,126,900. New York City's population grew by 87,000 between July 2023 and July 2024, reaching 8,478,000. (source NYC gov.). The advantage of doing research in rural Oklahoma is the locals are thrilled to be interviewed by real reporters.

Nobody now is doing the same state economies that Stalin and Mao did. Nicaragua is giving interest free loans to small businesses. China is exporting guys who are running serious numbers of department stores in Nicaragua.

Given that no state today doesn't have some private enterprise and the most successful economies are mixed and outsource agriculture, if Mamdani fixes things, he's not going to run for Mayor forever. And AOC is also ambitious.

Philadelphia is around 90 miles from NYC but the voters voted against letting him build a casino in East Falls. It's not that most people don't live in NYC. It's that NYC and the voters in Philly knew Trump very very well.
