I spoke to @skynews about the Government’s decision to once again rule out compensation for women born in the 1950s affected by changes to the State Pension age. The ombudsman was clear: maladministration occurred, there was injustice and compensation should be paid. Ignoring that advice is plain wrong. Lives were devastated and justice means engagement and fair redress.

The Water White Paper is a very welcome step. In Salford there were 11,974 sewage spills in 2023 into the Croal & Irwell. Stronger regulation is right, but after decades of failure post privatisation we must now go further and argue for public ownership.

I have consistently raised concerns about mandatory digital ID plans, including risks to privacy, civil liberties and exclusion, and the lack of evidence they would work. Pleased the Government has now listened and dropped the compulsory element.
