The Jobs Guarantee offers fully funded, six-month paid jobs for 18–21 year olds on Universal Credit, with in-work support.

Young people do not apply directly, Jobcentre Plus will support eligible young people. Delivery organisations can apply to DWP to run the scheme locally.

Many flat owners in Salford and beyond face ground rents that can jump sharply, often without warning until the bill lands. Ground rent is paid to the landowner your flat is built on.

I’m pleased the Government is acting: ground rents will be capped at £250 a year.

NHS England are increasing screening sensitivity so more bowel cancers are found earlier. As a Bowel Cancer UK Parliamentary champion, I look forward to seeing more in the National Cancer Plan to ensure our NHS delivers better outcomes for all 👇

Today we remember the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust, and all victims of the Nazi regime and of genocides throughout history.

As we mark Holocaust Memorial Day, we honour those who were lost and we recommit to building a brighter future.

Great to meet Annie-Rose from Achalasia Action today to discuss their new report, which highlights:

📊 52% misdiagnosed multiple times
⏳ 28% wait over 3 years for diagnosis
🚺 Women face longer delays and higher rates of dismissal

A rare condition, but not a rare experience.

Great to join Salford Community Upskilling CIC with Cllr Yolande Ghola and Cllr Gina Reynolds at their event in Swinton today. Brilliant work empowering our communities and helping those who are digitally excluded through English, ICT, mental health awareness, and arts & culture.

The Water White Paper is a very welcome step. In Salford there were 11,974 sewage spills in 2023 into the Croal & Irwell. Stronger regulation is right, but after decades of failure post privatisation we must now go further and argue for public ownership.

Today I asked the Prime Minister about police funding for Greater Manchester. GMP faces exceptional pressures yet received the 2nd lowest percentage increase of any police force and is now £12m worse off.

Communities across Salford and Greater Manchester must get the policing support they deserve.

Better rail links mean real benefits for places like Salford. I welcome the Labour Government’s commitment to Northern Powerhouse Rail, starting with TransPennine upgrades and building towards a new Liverpool–Manchester line, boosting jobs and connectivity across the North.

I have consistently raised concerns about mandatory digital ID plans, including risks to privacy, civil liberties and exclusion, and the lack of evidence they would work. Pleased the Government has now listened and dropped the compulsory element.
