At Loudoun's recovery high school, students who are in early recovery from substance-use disorders work toward their high school diploma while receiving additional layers of support in their recovery journey.

Last night, I was honored to attend the Ribbon Joining Ceremony at the R.I.S.E. Academy — a place where Recovery, Inspiration, Strength, and Empowerment come together to create new beginnings and brighter futures.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to visit Goshen Post Elementary School. Superintendent Aaron Spence and Chief of Staff Marc Bergin joined me for a school tour with Principal Ashley Tyson.

Students in the Pharmacy lab shared their chromatography session with us. And at the end of the visit, I was able to "give Principal Sackett a haircut" in the Cosmetology lab!

Yesterday, I was able to visit the Academies of Loudoun and tour the school with Principal Ryan Sackett. We spoke with teachers, and we considered the potential of some of the spaces within the school.

Today, I attended the Loudoun Chamber 4th Annual Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Accessibility Summit.

MSAAC Chair Tammy Jones closed the night by reminding us all, "If you are the light, somebody somewhere will see it...Together we can make the change that is needed in this world."

I look forward to the next MSAAC General Body Meeting on November 19!
