While I have done posters and things, most of my time spent in Source FIlmmaker has been on animations.

This is probably the one that most are familiar with.

I don't think it denigrates him at all. thats really the way to do it. Mel Brooks had said a number of times that his process was to create the story first, then layer the jokes on afterwards. its why his films tend to have fairly solid stories underneath all the absurdity.

I'm seen this with indie films, too. The ones where the entire cast is still alive at the end should be cradled like a rare and precious thing. esp indie genre films.

worse when its films with huge praise and awards.

to be fair, pratchett decreed in his will that any and all notes and rough drafts were to be destroyed and never be seen by the public. that doesn't sound like the actions of a man that feels he was hitting out gold first try. lol

"No one must know i'm only funny, eventually"

relatable, tbh

Starting on part 2 of a 2-part story that people already view as the weakest entry is certainly a bold choice. lol

i will throw out there that going in order IS a valid way of doing it, I did and they only got better as i went. BUT, not every is able to. if you think you are amiable enough, you may find something to love. but there is a chance you'll bounce off, in which case you can start in another place.

it goes the other way, too. someone will show up in the background of a book, or there will be some vague reference to something, and then in a later book that person will be a major character, or the something will be the focus of the entire plot.

and it never detracts from the current book.

like how every time the Librarian shows up in a book, his "explanation" is basically: he had been a librarian at a magical library and got turned into an orangutan.

and thats it

not mentioning that what did it was a literal world-altering magical event that he happened to catch a stray from.

he never dwells on things, because he wants the books to stand on their own as much as possible. Terry Pratchett's "Canon" can be summed up like this,

Terry, describing something weird in a later book: This was because of an accident in the past, anyway......

The "accident" in a previous book:

because of the irony of a staunch anti-monarchist getting given a knighthood.

when the author himself says the book is a bad starting place, you know its probably bad. lol

tho, tbf, i started there & liked it enough to keep going. i didn't get the references, but i got stuff like the luggage (not realizing it was a mimic parody), or the insurants policy.

it was basically the equivalent of people doing shitpost music videos for stuff like Friday, or gangum style.
raptornx01.bsky.social
I think of it like, film historians doing dvd commentaries for stuff like Snow White, or BTS stuff on Fantasia.

One of the bigger surprises from the old Fantasia box set was when they mentioned that Dance of the Hours was a parody of an overplayed piece of music, which is why its weird. never knew

Fanfiction deserves more respect from the writing and reading community, and publishers. They can be just as good or better then any "professional" work. One of the most famous works of literature in history is a slasher fanfic and no one bats an eye to see Dante's Divine Comedy on a top ten list.

Plus, ofcourse, the watch books are all crime stories and police procedurals.

that was Men At Arms, the scene when Dr Cruces of the Assassin's guild goes to visit Vetinari, who happened to be working at a desk in the garden built by Johnson.

Best Granny that isn't a Weatherwax.

the true peak of gender. just being ALL THE GENDERS.

"what are your pronouns?"

"yes"
raptornx01.bsky.social
my response would be, "so you think i'm hot?".

some of us aspire to be thirst traps, unfortunately we know in our hearts we'll always be hungry hungry hippos.

To those asking, "does this mean it will turn itself back on?" yes, thats exactly what it means. M$ doesn't believe in permission or consent. I've had to uninstall Win11 twice so far because, despite me repeatedly saying No when asked, they've "upgraded" me without my permission and without warning.

generally speaking, people that use "ai" don't actually care much about facts.
raptornx01.bsky.social
Bad move. anything the google autocorrecter posts is just assumed to be a lie. post the ACTUAL facts from ACTUAL sources.

this. the ones just in it for the porn just make or use the mods that do this already. they generally aren't the chuds delivering extra spicy hot takes in game discussions.

Nice to see those ancient vectors still getting use. lol
