I’m … not? This started as a criticism of modern conservative Christians.

I didn’t know that the Pharisees were seen as foundationally connected to modern Judaism when I started defending my reference to them. But none of this is meant as a defense of Christianity.

I apologized elsewhere in this thread as I learned more.

It’s not THAT crazy for members of one religion to not know a lot about the connective tissue between theirs and others’, though. I doubt it’s only a problem for Christians.

It was actually an in-house rumor that turned out to have little basis in fact, and harmed some innocent studios who had us on their resume.

I do think there’s a measure of creative destruction that has to happen for quality of life to improve. Replacing coal with renewables, for instance, changes a lot of jobs.

My problem with AI is that it’s trying to force job losses for a financial fad that delivers no actual improvements.

My initial indignant reaction was founded in that — I’ve had so many public conversations about this, with no one even slightly correcting me, that I felt confident there was nothing weird about it.

So the first correction felt like a weird pedantic gotcha, like you so often see online spaces 😅

I’m sorry that Christian discourse has evolved this way, though. I genuinely didn’t know that the Pharisees were considered so foundational, and thought I was casually maligning a long-gone sect no one felt connected to.

I said I was having trouble imaging a normal Christian reading it that way. I’m pretty familiar with normal Christians.

That said, I’ve acknowledged elsewhere in this thread that I’m likely to be wrong here — was just never exposed to this angle, and thought I’d had ample opportunities.

I know it's probably important, for political and historical reasons, to listen to videos like this. But I just can't anymore. Not with this guy. Him or Mike Johnson.

I'm acquiring a really harsh reaction to being lied to this way.
