In the middle of the night, I woke up with a very important message that I knew I was going to have to remember. So I got up and made sure I wrote it down on the back of a piece of paper. The message was: “Mushy A-Buff.”

Same with mom. Physically venturing outside her comfort zone gets her lost/confused. And our weekly phone conversations are now mostly her telling me things she already has, or me repeating my own weekly bullet points again and again. I focus on being in the present moment as much as I can with her.

1. 4 months ago, The Supreme Court gave families a right to opt out of LGBTQ+ education in schools.

Now, in Montgomery County, Maryland, where the case originated, the results are in.

Only 43 families out of 160,000 students have exercised that new right.
