I take photos of bands sometimes and collect music. I’m going to try to post about Icelandic bands I dig. I’m also in the process of archiving a stack of the old Icelandic magazine Undirtonar. You can see photos and the archive at Ragnaarb.com

Spy has become a comfort movie. But she’s always spot on and hilarious.

Between Þingvellir and Geysir, a river with a chasm in the middle. Do Any of my Icelandic friends know where this could be?

We’re hosting a shindig soon where some folks are vegan. I’ve never cooked a proper vegan meal so going to try a vegan lasagna tonight making the ricotta and mozzarella myself. this could be good or a disaster, luckily we have leftover pizza in case it’s the latter.

@manmademoon.bsky.social I know we’re probably never getting a cookbook, but does your household have any favorite vegan recipes up your sleeves? I’ve a party coming up and just learned I’ll need a dish for them.

Happy birthday to Björk. I’m sure some better writer than I can say it better, but she’s been planting seeds and plowing the way for creative music for decades. Photo from the book Blue Eyed Pop by Dr. Gunni.

My new Bolo tie, a trilobite wrapped in vintage Swarovski crystals. My mum made it for me for an event and I love it.

I will remember your face, what car you drive, and your musical tastes. But I have to visualize your name on your forehead before I’ll have a chance of remembering your name.
Old man wisdom here, kids-
I've realized over time that a big chunk of my social anxieties stem from that initial moment when I am introduced to someone & immediately forget their name because of the already present anxiety!
Take a moment to create a little mnemonic to fasten the name to your brain.

2nd year of owning a house at Halloween. A little girl dressed up as a princess just said, “Do you know you have the creepiest house?” Then took 3 pieces of candy.

I’ve also realized offering something to the adults lights their faces up like they’re kids again. And most take piece.

I baked a pie for my krúsídúlla. (Sorry, really sorry.) Maybe it’s the subliminal messaging of the season but decided to bake a peach pie, something I’ve never done before. Doubt I’ll win any awards with the lattice work. But it tastes great.

Ida Laura Pfeiffer on her trip to Iceland. She was a solo female traveler who toured the world mid to late 1800’s and wrote books on her travels. Most are still in print.

Her way of describing things is incredible.

Had a dream last night that someone actually took me up on my offer to play kazoo on their album. It was at that point I realized, I’m not really sure I DO play a mean kazoo. Anxiety kazoo nightmares.

Didn’t know this existed. Glad @graywhaleslc.bsky.social let me know. @blondieband.bsky.social Fab 5 Freddie, and a remix by Cut Chemist. Christmas music is sorted. Yuletide Throw-down for the win.

It amazes me how difficult it is to find golden syrup around here. Also amazes me that after a year I finally found out there’s a British import shop 15 minutes from my house that I didn’t know about. ❤️🙄

Mother in law gave us her old all in one stereo system. It’s from ‘86 and even though it’s been sitting for 20 years or so still worked on start up. No tinkering at all. Seabear album for the test run.

A while at the Phillips library I discovered Ida Pfeiffer, a female author and explorer from the early to mid 1800’s. Here’s her opening for her book on Iceland. And also the appendix with the salaries of Icelanders.

And I thought my dad’s sandals with socks socks were awesome. I guess his Christmas is sorted.
