Today is Marsha P. Johnson’s 80th birthday. It’s a travesty she is not here so we must keep her memory alive.

This ad takeover was created by Suriani in 2019. The poster was part of the Art In Ad Places pride series curated by @dustyrebel.bsky.social to mark Stonewall 50. #queerart #queersky
@dustyrebel.bsky.social 2019 site specific Resistance Is Queer ad takeover featuring Dick Leitsch at the 52nd anniversary of the historic “Sip-In” at Julius’ Bar in the West Village. The gay rights pioneer passed away in 2018, at the age of 83. #queerart #queersky #streetart #pride

Process shots of @scooterlaforge.bsky.social and @haafwit.bsky.social creating what is now the 8th pride mural to go up at 2nd Ave and Houston. What an honor to curate this wall for pride and once again bring #queerart to the street.

Writing about a particular piece of queer street art from the 70s, and of course, I fell down a rabbit hole comparing multiple translations of The Epic of Gilgamesh… @queerstreetart.bsky.social

For the past six years, I have curated what is too often the only mural to go up for Pride in New York City.

If you're a queer artist who wants to be considered for this year‘s mural, slide into my DMs or email. @queerstreetart.bsky.social

Paul does such important work—now more than ever. So grateful he's part of my book and film, OUT IN THE STREETS (@queerstreetart.bsky.social)
I've been planting pansies at sites of homophobia and transphobia since 2005, twenty years of planting. I've been reflecting on what I've learnt over the last decades in an essay, available on my website: thepansyproject.com - "Twenty Pansies Essay" #ThePansyProject20

And I'm about to plant more...

Legendary photographer Stanley Stellar—whose incredibly important work was censored on Instagram—is thankfully on Bluesky!

I had the immense honor to interview him for my film and book, OUT IN THE STREETS, about his work documenting the NYC piers @queerstreetart.bsky.social

I have been warning about this for nearly a decade. Was even invited to Meta's office to take part in a round table to discuss the issue. Since than its gotten worse as they try to hide and isolate queer people.

It is essential that we build and maintain community outside of digital platforms.
SCOOP: Instagram blocked teens from searching LGBTQ-related content for months.

Posts with LGBTQ+ hashtags were hidden under Meta's “sensitive content” policy which restricts "sexually suggestive content", Meta said they are fixing this “error” after I reached out for comment.

“We are an army because we have to be. We are an army because we are so powerful…We come out of the closet, face the rejection of society, face firing squads, just to love each other! Every time we fuck, we win.” — QUEERS READ THIS manifesto created by Anonymous Queers, 1990
This “Army of Queers” graffiti—found in Chelsea— is reminiscent of the QUEERS READ THIS manifesto created by Anonymous Queers and distributed in 1990 at New York CityPride.
