Our Queerness is on the Line (Again) in November
This November, Pennsylvanians find themselves in yet another historic, unprecedented election. Pennsylvania is just one of seven states to elect every single one of its judges from the magisterial district judges at the local city courthouse all the way up to the State Supreme Court Justices in partisan, political elections. Even more unique, these judges do not run for reelection in a traditional sense; instead, they run for retention, a simple yes or no vote that allows a judge to stay in office.

The Power of Storytelling, According to Russell Tovey
Russell Tovey has always possessed a low-key magnetism in his work — one that goes beyond his appearance — whether starring in the queer HBO series “Looking” or the dystopian drama “Years and Years.” But in “Plainclothes,” his performance as Andrew, an out gay man navigating the dangerous terrain of cruising culture in the late ’90s, feels especially lived-in. The film, which premiered at Sundance early this year, is set in 1997 and draws on real accounts of police stings targeting queer men in public spaces.

Local laws filled the federal void for LGBTQ+ rights and offer a path forward today
Although no law can truly prevent unfair treatment, nondiscrimination laws act as a deterrent and offer a path to accountability when problems arise. But many state statutes do not explicitly protect LGBTQ+ people — and without federal nondiscrimination laws pertaining to the queer community, most LGBTQ+ people in the United States are left vulnerable. In 2025, approximately half of LGBTQ+ people in the United States live in areas where they can still be…

The UN calls conversion therapy ‘torture.’ Could the Supreme Court greenlight it anyway?
Originally published by our partners at The19th on October 6, 2025. Five years ago, the United Nations concluded that conversion therapy could amount to torture and recommended it be banned. QBurgh Turns 5!
Five years ago, we weren’t just facing a global pandemic, we were reckoning with isolation, fear, and a silencing of queer voices. We still are. That’s why QBurgh was born. Out of necessity, out of love, and out of a radical belief that our community deserves to see itself, celebrate itself, and stay informed on our own terms.
