Archival material, artworks, and historical objects will bring the Moodie era to life for visitors throughout the month. A lecture by Gary Nichol and Richard Hughes, a visit to the Town of Belleville as Susanna and Dunbar Moodie would have experienced living here in the mid-1800s. Presented by River & Main Theatre Company submitted original, unproduced plays of any length that reflect life in Belleville during the Moodie era 1840-1879, capturing the essence of life in Belleville during a period marked by rapid growth, industrialization, and inspired by Canadian writer Susanna Moodie. Come see the winning entries will be brought to life in a rehearsed staged reading. September 30th is a day to honour the survivors of residential schools, the children who never returned home, their families, and communities. Orange Shirt Day is a reminder that Every Child Matters—today and every day.

Today, we pause to listen, learn, reflect, and commit to reconciliation. 🧡
The Quinte Arts Council will be closed to the public as our staff attend local events in solidarity and reflection. We encourage our community to join us: Tyendinaga Native Women’s Association – 5th Annual Every Child Matters Walk 📍 24 Meadow Drive, Kenhtè:ke (Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory) 🕙 Begins at 10 AM The walk will be followed by drumming, music, dancing, and rock painting. ✨ City of Belleville National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Event 📍 Market Square, Belleville 🕚 11 AM Speakers, special presentations, and musical performances will be held to mark the day.
