It's brutal and lingering! I keep getting waves of "I feel great" and then my body is like "You must go horizontal immediately."
The excuse that he's worried it'll make cookware more expensive is absolutely mind boggling. Treating illness is far more expensive than a fricken pan.
Nothing like getting into the groove with your WIP only to be knocked on your ass with a cold 🫠

My brain went from crafting stories to crafting soup orders real fast

That's so sad!! I would love another Princess Diaries :(
I have a setup with a binder full of my scribbled over manuscript, a notebook with ideas and thoughts, and my computer for edits! Plus a cup of tea for sanity :D
No better incentive to stay at my desk and write than my dog laying between my chair legs and rendering me unable to move even an inch

My favorite follow up to asking for tests is, "well, then you might as well go on birth control if you think it's hormonal."
I can't believe there was a time in my life where a Friday night meant waiting until 10pm to go out and then staying out till 4.
Sometimes I'll cut an entire section out of my story, but I'll put it in a little comment box instead of outright deleting it. If enough time goes by, I'll move it to a different doc to live with all the other bits of writing I've squirreled away.

Saw a job post for a #writer/#author position where you review Al fiction & improve the system's storytelling. Oh & make sure they're original stories. Ya know, original AI stories made from millions of stolen works.

I'm so MAD. Screaming into the void.

Ever leave something sealed in the fridge for too long & you know it's going to be absolutely foul once you open it?

That's what going on social media is like after taking a break. Yikes.

Right?! Like art is also about celebrating joy and beauty and to help you get through the rough shit. I think he just wanted to seem edgy and philosophical and "not like other people" which is also something he talked about 😅
Omg. Yes.

It honestly was such a surprising conversation that I was just waiting to see how deep a hole he could dig himself into. Like, do you not hear yourself?
Told a man I was an author and received a 45min monologue about "who can really create art if they haven't suffered" and "I hope I haven't dissuaded you"

Ok buddy, sorry I told you I write cute, happy tales. Didn't know you needed my traumatic backstory

Wait but have you read Legendborn yet... 😆
THE SERIES IS INCREDIBLE!!!
I thought I took a long time browsing bookstores on my own. Then I took my dog & discovered that a shelf isn't completely perused until it has been sniffed for at least 15 minutes.

So far his favorite genre is unknown but there is a patch of carpet that he's partial to.

I think multiple beta readers combing through is the best way to do things! A professional editor is great but costs a ton of money, so unless you want to make the investment, free resources are super helpful and adequate :D
YUP! She did the croissant pull apart and there I am, wide-eyed staring into the camera
Was writing with friends in a cafe when 2 influencers sat down to film content at the table across from me.

Mid snort-laugh, I realized my lil face was completely in the shot and may have accidentally ruined some riveting croissant videos.

centuries of fairy tales & folklore about not trusting glittering, deceptive entities that flatter our vanity and look at us. eating the fae food, mesmerized by the mirror, etc. clown behavior.
For three weeks in May, the fate of the world rested on the shoulders of a corporate recruiter on the outskirts of Toronto. Allan Brooks, 47, had discovered a novel mathematical formula, one that could take down the internet and power inventions like a force-field vest and a levitation beam.

Or so he believed.

Mr. Brooks, who had no history of mental illness, embraced this fantastical scenario during conversations with ChatGPT that spanned 300 hours over 21 days. He is one of a growing number of people who are having persuasive, delusional conversations with generative A.I. chatbots that have led to institutionalization, divorce and death.
