Pro Tip: If you didn't want AI and automation to take your job, ya probably shouldn't have pushed so hard for onshoring of cheap offshore labor that complemented your own. Now it's getting cheaper to replace both the offshore jobs & your own!

The saying "careful what you wish for" applied here.

In a population of mostly women (>170 mil), mysognists in leadership roles want to banish them back to insignificant babymakers. Removing all website language celebrating the success of women in industry and science in the name of another 3 letter boogeyman (DEI).

Ladies, silence is complicity.

When I first moved to SoFla, no way would I have expected thriving tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, basil, etc outside my suburban home. I have ZERO fear of a freeze killing them. Ate fresh veggies throughout our "winter."

Global warming is real and the WestPalm-FortLaud area is a transition zone.

Being able to train a basic ANN model on just one document rocks, but you still need a magnitude or two more of them to train a classifier. If you know, you know. #AItopic

For those brainwashed by the oil industry, what are you going to do when only remaining markets for gasoline vehicles are the United States and destitute countries that can't afford the ones we make? China, Korea, etc are eating our lunch so oil backed oligarchs can retain power. Will be too late.

It's interesting that the conspiracy theorists that claim the United States is a private Corporation or actually kind of getting their wish. I'm referring to Musk takeover.

The first online multiplayer game I played was around 1986, and it was an a Zork-like adventure game called Freezuul. Connection was at 300 bits per second, taking about one full second to display one full line of text. The gameplay was used to test breakthru multitasking software and hardware tech.

I'm finding a lot of supporters of a particular person talking about how America First on showing a job or mean more American jobs. I'm here to tell you that it means more Automation and AI and maybe more American cost. And a few jobs for people *smarter than those supporters*.

In the era of "coded bigotry," sure seems like faux outrages about "CRT" and "DEI" from people that understand neither appears to be code for "I too want to openly hate minorities and women, thanks Donald!"

I am curious what Elon Musk thinks about the tariffs that will be placed on Imports that affect SpaceX and Tesla since a lot of those components are not made in america? Is he going to be exempt from those?

A reminder that all of us must remember that we don't always know what we don't know. 😃

I just found out that there are people nearly 5 years later that didn't know that mask mandates were to catch the stuff coming OUT OF YOU not the stuff coming INTO you. The latter was a bonus.

Near 100% efficacy on the former, in spreading the disease.

On another platform I have discovered groups in Australia and Canada that are full of, get this, diehard Trump supporters, complete with all of the propaganda and arguments. That seems pretty weird, don't you agree? How many Americans spend their days and nights pushing propaganda for other leaders?

We can cure social media by bringing back pay to post structure and removing advertisements. In the old days you had to wait to get online, you had to pay to post anything, and you lost your money if you violated terms of service or pissed off a moderator. It kept most of the dregs out.

Russian IRA pushes more than political propaganda. Who needs to launch missiles if you can infect your enemy's more gullible population with antiscience rhetoric?

Recent research has identified anti-vaccination propaganda in the so-called Russian Troll Tweets strongly associated with the 2016 US Presidential election. This study builds on this: hypothesising th...

Rereading a book I first read in high school in the early 1980s in one of our English classes. Do any of you remember it?

Just got my passport photo and was amazed at how much such a small photograph cost. I bet you I could have bought a bunch of expensive eggs.

Online forums circa 1990s: topics like how automated teller machines were going to kill off the banks & all the teller jobs. In 2010s, fast food kiosks were the boogeyman. Similar to the arguments we are having about AI? Cyber phobia is certainly a thing. We have more banks and more tellers BTW.

From 1988 until well into the '90s I used an internal editor created by IBM Boca Raton in the old dos days.

8 inches of snow in NOLA and almost 9 inches in Milton, FL. 🌨❄ Holy smokes!

And yep, the globe is still warming. Amazed that it is 2024 and there are still those that think winters disprove the warming trend. Will always remember the late Senator Inhofe and his snowball shenanigans in Congress 🤭😁

I've come a lot across a lot of chemical trail people and anti-vax people, and one common theme is they appear to be afraid of chemicals but can't say which chemicals and why.

Do you think those that do this are aware of the irrational fear, or are they faking? If so, why? 🤔

Almost 40 years ago I was addicted first to Freezul, then Galactiwars, Galactic Empire, TradeWars. Then about 30 years ago transitioned to the MUD www.3k.org. Any old school intellectual gamers in the house?

Is AI in use in your current employment? How long since it was introduced and how are you guys using it?

I'm currently focused on computer vision using Azure document intelligence. Looking to migrate to more machine learning applications.
