This is mostly from a shipper's point of view, but I do think that's the first time someone hurt a friend in front of him, and I feel like anger would be appropriate there.

But I always liked Emerald's multi-battle fight because I like to think that was the first real time Brendan was...actually angry. Like, I think Brendan would have been pissed seeing Tabitha fling Steven and let that rage consume him enough in the battle to drive Tabitha and Maxie away.

For Brendan, I always felt like it was the random encounter on Route 118, though I always felt like Brendan had started to develop an attachment sometime after he called up Steven and talked a bit about clearing the Rusturf Tunnel (if you know, you know)

I'm not super focused and I would have to skim again, but I do remember another change in Viet subs that always caught my eye is that I believe Muichirou refers to Tanjirou as "Anh Tanjirou" which feels right since Tanjirou is a hair older than Muichirou, but....

I really like that the main melody is surprisingly gentle and kind of conveys the idea that Brendan is trying to parse the rollercoster of emotions, but given that one way to interpret ORAS is that this is the main character retelling their story...

Been listening to the ORAS rendition of "Encounter! Champion" and I feel like it's better at conveying this idea of how "star struck" Brendan is when he sees Steven was the champion.
