Harry chose Ron Weasley as a friend over him. The Weasleys are known blood traitors. This isn't the worst insult. Harry also befriends Hermione Granger, a Muggle born. Draco prefers the term Mudblood however. This is a great insult and Harry is considered a rival, a nemesis. This changes later.

Draco Malfoy is the son of Purebloods Lucius Malfoy and Narcissa Black. His aunt is none other than Bellatrix Lestrange.
