Postage stamps are pop culture! Celebrating and bollocking philatelic design and the collector life. Co-host of the Stamps Aren’t Cool podcast.

Cool! I don't yet know if I will make it, but if not, I hope I can enjoy it vicariously through the socials!
Graham Beck from Exploring Stamps sent me a postcard from the 2025 Great American Stamp Show, featuring the classy new Boston 2026 Expo stamps under this amazing postmark! (And also Betty White. 🙌) Hard not to get excited with this kind of early promotion.
Thanks so much! I received a very similar translation on another platform so it’s good to see the consistency. I think the mystery has been solved!
If you happen to be in my town of Melbourne, Australia next Sunday, I'll see you at the stamp fair celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Brighton Philatelic Society (@bps-stamps.bsky.social)... won't I?
One week until BriPex 75th, our birthday stamp fair! Here’s a sneak peek at some of the limited-edition collectables available to all attendees on the day. The first 50 members through the door will receive additional souvenirs in a gift bag (and yes, you CAN join on the day)! 1/2 ⬇️
If we share a home town (Melbourne, Australia 👋) then you might like to get along to Brighton Philatelic Society tonight (Tuesday 12 August) where I'm talking about online philately at 7.15pm. It's followed by a thematic display on Martin Luther King. ⬇️
What’s on Tuesday, 12 August? 🧵1/3

💻 7.15pm: ‘Philately and the Internet’. Discover the surprising new ways that stamp collecting is expressing itself online. (We mean you, #postcrossing #philately #postboxsaturday #xtremephilately #pixpost!) Presented by @punkphilatelist.bsky.social
My search results suggest that no one has yet said #EuroPhilEx on this platform. If you came here looking for that hashtag then you should come looking for me at EuroPhilEx! 🤗
This was a fantastic night, and a great example of the enjoyable looseness of club displays compared to the seriousness of competitive exhibits. I learned a lot about dahlias and even tempted Mrs Punk into the clubhouse for the first time! Nice one Deb 🙌
The Brighton Philatelic Society recently hosted the very talented Deb Collett, whose philatelic display on dahlias was carefully curated to match her glorious award-winning blooms. A stunning and informative evening! Check out the pics! 🧵👇🏼
A tribute to philatelic and postbox queen, Constanze Dennis, best known entirely appropriately in social media #philately as Constanze the Great

Farewell to a shining light of #philately

I discovered the daytime hideout of the local family of tawny frogmouth, the star of this stamp from Australia’s 2021 issue, ´Nature’s Mimics’. Being nocturnal, they adopt strange poses to disguise themselves as tree branches during the day. Unfortunately their snoring gave their position away. 🙄
I did, of course, mean 2025. Thus the rot begins
This optimistic little piggy is all of us heading into 2024. Surely the year can only bring good fortune and wonder! The future is all his! He could be anything! What could possibly go wrong?

Chinese-speaking friends, can you tell me what these inscriptions say on the back of a sheet that has come my way? The auto-translations are intriguing, but unclear. I’d love to hear what a human says.

(I added the numbers on the images.)
I just went and looked them up. They’re lovely!
The 100th and then 150th anniversaries of the Overland Telegraph line in Australia
I know he’s a horse, not a donkey, but I can’t shake the feeling that in the morning, he’s making WAFFLES! 🧇 #philately
I might have just done the first #catsonstamps post on BlueSky. And now the second! We’re exploring a new planet here, folks
I don’t know if there’s a #catsofbluesky yet, but if you like #cats - especially if you can’t actually keep one - then collect #catsonstamps! No feeding, no cleaning up, and you can house thousands of them on a bookshelf or in a cupboard! For more on this guy: punkphilatelist.com/2024/11/17/j...

Well, well, well, I've only gone and created a Starter Pack. Please try to use #philately in your stamps & postal history related posts and lets try and get a stamp community going on Bluesky.

It’s in the editing suite! Stay tuned.
So relieved to see you here! I was writing a “Why I’m leaving Twitter” post and if I ever bother to finish it, I can now strike your posts off the “things I’ll miss” list 🎉
Sorry to hear that you’ve been in the wars and I hope your recovery continues apace. Any day is to be valued if one of your posts lights up our feeds!
